    High street Acrylics

I think I agree and disagree at the same time. Call me complicated... I agree that we cannot ask or force chemists, Boots and others to NOT sell DIY nail products. That is impossible. But I disagree that the end consumer usually knows the score. Most of them haven't got the...

    backache!!

Hi girls!! I use a saddle stool! Bought it last year. It is very good and confortable..... once you have read the instructions and set it up properly!! The rule of thumb is that if you are in any pain, then you are not sitting properly! But once you get used to it, it is...

Well, she gave up in the end!! She is now going to a Bio Sculpture tech because her friend convinced her that her nails never ever had that problem.... well, of course she hasn't!! She gets a new set every 4 weeks!! She has tips and gel applied, then 1 infill, then soak off, cut, tips...

    Doing the right thing

Hi Fiona, I would say that if you wanted to "warn" them and tell them what to look for when searching for a nail tech, you should do it when you talk to them during the first phone call, when they are making that first enquiry. Anytime later and it would sound a little pushy, whiney and...

Clear Fabric... becoming not so clear....

.....and we all encounter different things, that's what makes it interesting!! :D She is not the kind to put polish on, she is more the "I don't take care of myself" type of girl. I did apply 2 coats of Bond last week, and the nails today didn't look like the resin had gone from the top! That...

Clear Fabric... becoming not so clear....

Ok guys, I have had a strange thing happen with my f/g. Had a bride-to-be come in for a set of nails last week. As she didn't want to keep them, did tips (badly bitten nails) with f/g overlay. Used Fabric#. The set turned out really beautiful and CLEAR. She was happy, so was I. 8) I had...

    Suppliers Catalogues

... but this is a genuine question, ok? :D In view of the changes that are to come next year or thereabouts... Is the Creative training NVQ / VTCT / "whatever will be required" compatible? I am not talking about standards here, I am talking about potential "legal" requirements that might...

    Gel or not to Gel

I don't use drills.... call me carefull... :P Now, why do your clients want them off at one point?? Confused....:? Is that because the don't like them, because they want a new set for what reason, because it was temporary...?? Why??? I find that I don't really have to file sets off to...

    Gel or not to Gel

Well, it is one of the particularity of gels to have to be filed off..... :? As they are not porous, the acetone or other chemicals do not penetrate the gels to break them down. Hence you file them off. But gels are softer and easier to file than L&P, so filing them should not be such an issue...

    Airbrushing on gel nails

What I have tried was to mix some glitter with clear gel and "hand paint" that mix under the gel top coat, that works fine (but it makes the gel rock hard!!). I have also tried the same method with some pigments and have had various results, so I am still experimenting! Good results with foils...

New Tech - Q of the Day! Filing off Gels.

Hi there, When I have to file the gel off (not very often tho  ), I always leave some on to protect the natural nail which had been used to have the extension on. That protective layer is very thin and will usually peel off or wear off on its own. I use about 3 or 4 up&down with a...
