    Mobile facials???????

Its just a regular beauty case with zips on either side that you normally get with your college beauty kit. I keep cleansers toners exfoliators on one side - then turn it round and masks moisture serums etc on other. They also have handy little zips for all your little bits n bobs.

Another Blow to the tanning industry

I don't think you can protect people from themselves. All we can do is provide the relevant information and the rest is up to their own judgement and common sense! Even if every salon is manned it won't stop some idiots popping down the road to the next 'manned' salon or smearing themselves...

    Swedish Massage

I agree with martin and use the same method to do the glutes. I usually ask if the client wants the abdomen area massaged though when doing the Payot massage the client is totally uncovered and the entire body is massaged as a whole, no towels or sarongs. I thought some clients would feel...

Am I too old to enter the beauty industry?

A more mature therapist is a comfort for many clients, especially those who have had babies, are a bit overweight or have other body issues. One of my clients was a bit coy having a high bikini, when I asked her to move her leg she said ' you can't go down there, I've had two babies' - my...

    Starting again

Have you advertised online yet? I get much more business now that I advertise online. Make sure you're listed in yell. I also did a search of businesses in my area, its a great way to find more sites to advertise on. Many of them are free or cost just a few quid to prioritise your...

Reflexology while pregnant & bringing on labour

I read that there was research showing reflexology is very good after baby arrives to get mum back to 'normal' after the birth.

    Mobile facials???????

I take my couch with a towelling cover already over it and a sarong to cover the client during treatment.(all fits into carry case) I use a trolley to move couch to and from car 'cos it weighs a ton! I have a beauty case which opens on both sides so I have my products lined up and work solely...

    Useless

If we're quiet in salon we put an A board outside saying appointments not always required, it's amazing how many people will just pop in on the off chance. They're usually small treatments like eye brow shapes etc. but the pennies add up!

    In need of some help!!!!

This job is too complex for a level one, you wouldn't be tackling something like this until you're level 3. Your friend is asking too much from you and if it all goes pear shape she'll blame you so don't do it! Ask your lecturers if she could come in as a demo, there really is too much going...

First time renting a room - HELP in advance please! x

Have you contacted the inland revenue yet? They do a fab course about starting as self employed and a follow on course about filling in your self assessment. The downside of the business is sitting there filling in accounts but you really need to stay on top of that side! If you haven't...

    What should i do?

What other things is she planning to sell? It may actually turn out that more people are coming into the shop which means you get access to more new potential clients? Try not to worry, it could turn out to be a positive thing in the long run.

Beauty salon, lol, I'm past that!

My Ex ran loads of businesses and when he read my treatment menu he just shook his head. I nagged him about it and that night we were at a restaurant and he said read the menu. The descriptions of the food made your mouth water before you even tried it! I now try to give a lovely...

    Monthly specials-any ideas?

How about a Winter Warmer package? Hot stone BNS followed by luxury pedi with hot booties - could finish it with a cup of hot choclate and mini marshmallows to make it an extra special treat.:)

    Epilation

She's probably referring to nerve damage which affects the client's ability to feel pain, heat etc. This can be common in diabetics and you'd carry out a hot/cold sharp/blunt test to ensure they have no damage prior to performing treatment.

    In need of some help!!!!

It's best not to start something that you couldn't put right if you messed up! If you're unsure of what peroxide to use in the first place this should be an indication to you that you shouldn't start the job without assistance. Read the previous reply, there's no right or wrong peroxide...

    Recession how are your bookings?

I do hair and beauty but not nail enhancements or threading. Any calls I get re: threading or enhancements I pass on to friends. I also do this for hair extensions which I also don't offer. Might be an idea to co-operate with other professionals offering things you don't, that way you all...

    Recession how are your bookings?

Like KylieB I work mobile and have never been busier, I can barely keep up with the phone calls at the moment! I also work 2 days a week in salon and we're DEAD! I think perhaps because freelancers can charge less as our overheads are so much lower than salons, people are holding on the...

which skin care products would you reccomend for mobile

Essentially Yours do a line of organic skincare products and have a low start up order so great for mobile therapists. They also do party plan which could generate an extra income.

    Mobile hairdressers

Don't expect to earn huge amounts straight off, it takes time to build a business and you pick up most clients by 'word of mouth'. If I were you I'd try to get a couple of days a week in salon to gain experience and pick up speed. I find clients will always ask which salons you've worked in...
