    Waxing pregnant clients?

Just going through old posts of mine and saw this reply. I wanted to draw anyone reading now’s attention to the fact that it took you over a year to reply to the thread so it’s hardly surprising that no one in your office could remember advising me at the time! I hope nowadays your staff give...

    Which Smashbox foundation?

I used to work for Smashbox - from what you say I'd go for Studio Skin. But visit a counter if you can and try it - you should be able to get a sample x

IHM vs seated massage course: advice needed

Hi all I'm trained in just about all areas except massage but would like to add seated/chair massage to my service menu (my business is mobile). I've been making enquiries about courses and have had some mixed messages. If I want to learn back, neck and shoulder massage (and maybe scalp), to...

    Help! Seated massage chair!

I'm just looking at massage chairs. I see that your post is from a while ago - how do you rate the chair on the whole? x

    Cleaning foundation brush?

Baby shampoo for a good wash; MAC or Clinique brush cleaner for a quick clean. I sometimes use surgical spirit if I have nothing else but prolonged use of alcohol can damage some brushes x

    Let's Go lash kit anyone?

Hi I've booked onto Let's Go lash training with Nouveau Beauty Group and was wondering if any geeks out there have a kit, or surplus kit they would be interested in selling? Official Let's Go products only please - I can provide confirmation of my training place if necessary. (Mods please move...

Kim Lawless - intimate waxing course

It really is fine and after no time you're not really thinking about it and everyone relaxes. I hadn't trained in intimate waxing before doing the course and the process was really helpful in getting ready to do clients. I think most people are sceptical about this, but the course and...

Are you Shellacking sucessfully? If not read on .....

Thanks so much hun. I've taken your advice and am going round tonight and will redo the affected nails. Then if she has any further problems maybe she isn't cut out for Shellac! It was funny, when I got home and told my boyfriend about it he said "What? You wear that stuff(!) all the time...

    Shellac Peeling

Just posted this on another thread, but think it could belong here too! Looks like I've had my first Shellac complaint today :( I'm mobile and Shellac'd a girl who I used to know vaguely from my school years on Sat. She's just texted to say it's "coming off". I said that that was strange and...

Looks like I've had my first Shellac complaint today :( I'm mobile and Shellac'd a girl who I used to know vaguely from my school years on Sat. She's just texted to say it's "coming off". I said that that was strange and asked her to send me a pic - still waiting at the mo. Only yesterday I...

    Salary of a Beauty Therapist

Me too. It's one thing being happy in your work but you've got to pay the bills. It's crazy that people who've done so much training can get paid so little, particularly in nice spas which charge top dollar for treatments. If you factor in things like the cost of childcare it's a wonder...

The Daily Mail's review of Tesco's salons

It really does seem like, after killing off so much of the high street, they've said "Ooh what else can we do?". If they start doing estate agency and charity shops most of our high streets will be well and truly finished!

Really struggling in my new salon

Sound advice! The internet is a wonderful, cost effective way to get noticed. Bear in mind too that these things do take time. There are two types of nail client you're going to get - people who currently go somewhere else or "new" people who've never had their nails done before. Both need...

Make up lessons for men - advice please

Hi all I know this thread is a bit old now but I suddenly realised I'd never reported back on what happened! It all went perfectly and the guy was lovely. Completely agree with Rebecca re the importance of a good consultation. In this case the guy wanted to look natural as a woman, but had...

    Bridal/prom hair trends

Thanks for your reply! Do you have a stock of hair pieces or do you buy them in for each bride? How does using hair pieces affect your pricing? I'm booked on another bridal hair course in a couple of weeks so it'll be interesting to see what they say! x
