I take it you use l/p? I am competing, but only in gel.
If you want to have a look at how competition-nails should look like, take a look in either my album or some of the other competition-techs here. You can also google competition nails and I am sure you will get some more info. At last...
Seriously... 20 Pound is NOT much for attending a professional show. As I said, in Dusseldorf and in the US it costs a lot more. Only in Japan it was free as long as you pre-booked at the internet.
And those getting angry because THEY had to pay while other got it for free? Life is not always...
I am thinking, again...:)
So... you all tell that the show has become worse... and blame the organizers... Why don't you blame the distributors? They are doing exactly the same as they did 5 years ago, not very innovative/creative there... It's the same every year, at every show, the same...
Do you go to trade-shows to spend money, is how much money you have spent equal to how good the show has been?
What do you expect from a trade-show?
Cec.
I agree with you in in both. AND I think the industry, both the companies and the consumers (I don't mean the public, but the nailtechs, beauticians etc...) should support those fewer shows. That will benefit everybody in the long run, in my opinion.
Cec.
I think it is usual to pay entrance fee at many places. In Norway too and also at the big show in Dusseldorf. And it's not cheap... I think it is about 30-50 pound a day... I happily pay it!
Isn't it usually nails and beauty together here?
I would also welcome hair, nails and beauty in one...
I agree with you, BUT what I find strange is that those "nick-knack" companies have the money to have a stand while the real companies don't have. For me, this makes no sense at all.
Another suggestion... This may be totally out of the blue, but... What if everybody who have a stand get the...
Well, in my opinion, I would rather have all the brands/companies at one place. We need this to get a diversity, so nailtechs get the opportunity to see what's on the marked, not only one brand.
Cec.
I don't understand this... Either you moan because you have to pay to get in or it's too expensive for the companies to hire. Do you really think it is free to rent such as Gmex/Olympia/Excel? Do you think the staff there is willing to do it for free? Please, there is NOT such as free lunch...
I am going Sunday and Monday. I will be competing the salon-speed competition Sunday morning. Any of you want to be my model??? (Don't expect anything as I haven't been practicing since June, but it will be fun! :-))
I never got the time to catch up with people at Olympia, as I was there for...
If anybody need a hotel-room I have a spare room for 40 GbP. It's at the Express By Holiday Inn Park Royal. I booked this for my model as I was going to compete, but I am not going to compete now and my model didn't want to go to London since not modeling.
I hope to get some hours at the show...
Well, normally I would say the same as Gigi, NEVER give discounts!
BUT what I did when I started out was that I did a PERFECT set of nails on myself (very short, natural looking - people tend to think they need to have very loooong nails when getting nail-ext.) and dressed up like a...
Christine,
If you don't have a fan, it will be terrible using the e-file. I bought a fan years ago, but have never used it. I picked it up again when I began using the e-file and it really is a very huge different.

I have begun preparing for the competitions in September and October. I think I have sorted out the models I need in Manchester and London, but none in Dublin... :-/
Anybody going to the show who want to have a "sneak-peak" into the competition arena? PLEASE send me a pm!
C.
Each to their own terms! :)
As I said, using the e-file has not made me quicker but it really saves my shoulders and wrists for taking down the length and de-bulking. I still hand-file a lot. :) I don't say everybody should buy one either, I just say it's wrong to tell how much they hate it...
I think it is strange that people who have never tried an e-file can tell how much they hate it!
Another thing... Please don't tell the clients about DRILLS! We are using E-FILES! Although it *IS* pretty much the same, I find the term "e-file" more professional.
