    I nails express?

I saw these on demo today at Birmingham show. I was sort of intrigued as the demo guy told me that he uses 'liquid acrylic' to which I asked him if he meant gel. 'No' he said, it is liquid acrylic. Hmmmm. So thats gel then? But he was adamant that it was 'liquid acrylic' and defo not gel...

Best way to do glitter fades over enhancements

I am wondering if the best way to do glitter fades is to overlay the enhancement with shellac / or a gel then do the glitter scrub into the inhibition layer, but if I do this, I am sort of doing 2 services instead of one, so how would the charging be priced?

    How many clients over exaggerate?

I saw my client who had text me previously in the week to - quote - 'warn you that my nails are terrible, they are all flaking and 3 have split right down the middle' Hmmmm. She had only had ACG french on them! anyway, after getting myself in a right flap and buying solar oil in bulk plus...

    Why blend?

This seems like a silly question when I am so far down the line, but I have not worked this out and its bugging me. If you were doing a set of enhancements using a pink masque and white, then tipped with a natural colour 'non blend' enhancement, why oh why do some people still say you have to...

    Brisa gel over flaky nails?

I have a client coming tonight who's nails have split and are flaking - I've not seen them yet. She has been wearing ACG (im NOT blaming the product, just describing what has happened). Would it be a good idea to give them a coating of Brisa gel before apply shellac? as I believe there...

    Feeling disheartened - L&P

Just as I thought I'd 'cracked it' with the l &P and able to produce good lasting enhancements, perfected my prep etc. I have got a text from a client saying the nails on her left hand are lifting. I honestly dont know what else I can do. She doesnt work with water much and she is in her...

    Splitting nails after ACG

I have a client who text me saying that her nails are split and have chipped a bit, she is due her appointment on Thursday for an 'infill' of ACG in french. I dont want to continue using the ACG on her, I would sooner remove the remaining ACG, then assess her nails. I am concerned that by...

What are the longest nails you've ever done?

I have had someone ask me to do their friends nails - and then tells me that she likes them long, like VERY long. Well, turns out she likes them just cut off after the 'bend' on the initial tip (OMG). She wont be disuaded and she tells me she is very super careful with them and normally gets...

Best way to do acrylic glitter fades?

it it better to : 1) apply tip then l &P then use a coating of shellac and apply the glitter fade into the inhibition layer, or to 2) just mix the chosen glitter with clear acrylic and fade from each end ? Also, can I apply a tip then shellac directly over it, (only a short length) or...

    Wide and long nails

Im feeling a bit disheartened, I have just taken 2 hours to do a set of nails. Client had large nailbeds, and my NSI no.1's wouldnt fit snugly to each side of thumbs, so I had to use an emergency extra large. Anyway, the client wanted her nails really long, and requested them THICK. I...

    CND Retention+

I have just got my trial of retention+ and powders. I am very impressed with the consitency of the beads and the setting time of the powders. I like the fact its not spongy and springy, you put it and it stays put. I also like the clarity. However, ALL my ££££££'s are in NSI products. :( -...

To sculpt or not to sculpt?

I did my first set of glitter tipped sculpts on a paying client (also good friend) and I was very pleased with them apart from they took me 1hr 50mins. Well, she text me tonight (to tell me that her litter finger one has cracked then came off. She is very honest, and would have told me if...

    Has anyone ever tried this?

Hi folks, a family member got me a present (sort of) well, more bought some nail gel glitters and asked me if I could use them over her acrylic nails? She bought a set of 12 off the internet, and I must say I am quite jealous as they are the most fab colours & pots. The pots are not cheap...

    Timings and powder?

Right, I have just done my first set of sculpts in glitter tips & one glitter fade on the ring finger. It took me 1hr 50mins. Ahhhhhh. Far too long I know. But they turned out ok after a fair bit of filing the sidewalls to neaten them up etc. I normally take 1hr 30 to do glitter tips...

    Nail adhesive

Does anyone else have a problem with NSI polybond sort of loosing time on its sticking ability after a few weeks? or do all nail adhesives do this. I find I have to hold the nail tip in place for at least 20 - 30 seconds before it will bond properly. Its not the client either, I just...

    Timings

It takes me 1hr 40 to do a full set of acrylic glitter tips with glaze n go. I know I need to get my timing down, but I just cant seem to get any quicker. I know I spend ages on my prep but I am afraid to spend any less time in case of lifting. I use polybond NSI adhesive, this seems to...

    NSI coloured acrylic + glitter

I have just used some NSI technicolour 'glistening sea' and I was pretty upset as the colour was just not consistant and came out pretty translucent in places. I couldnt do the tips any thicker without them looking too bulky. Can anyone recommend a better brand? or is it just this colour...

    Swapping brush?

I have been using a Youngs brush - I cant remember what its called exactly - its silver and you pull it in half to store it,but the name of it has long since rubbed away, but I know it was £40. I am wanting to try a brush which is a bit flatter and does not come to as much of a point. Can...

How many clients actually ask for infills?

How many clients actually ask for infills? I mostly do people on a monthly basis or for special occasions. I asked my sister who has had her nails professionally done for the past 10 years and she said normally its just easier to get them all off after about 3 weeks and start afresh as there...

    Rebalance/infills

I'm not confident with my infills at all, I always seem to chase the lift halfway up the nail, despite filing above the lift as not to loosen the acrylic. And I'm always frightened of hurting the client, I find it hard to file the acrylic and not touch the natural exposed nail near the cuticle...
