55/66 on dark strawberry blonde virgin hair

A level 7/8 wanting a level 1/2? Thats going to look horrendous when her roots grow out. I really would think twice about doing this colour, try and convince her to have 55/66 all over or a lighter base on the roots, because if she doesnt do maintenance very well its really going to look awful...

    Crazy colour

Theres so much information on here you just need to search through the threads. I think ive explained at least 10 times about how underlying pigments in crazy colour and other semi permanent direct dyes affect what level you need to lift to, but for you heres a couple of things; Cool toned...

    Osmo pre lightener

If youre gonna use a generic peroxide you might as well use generic bleach for all the good it will do. Not really much point contacting osmo they will say the same thing- use the right developer and the product works the way it has been designed to.

Zany older person wants pink hair

I wouldnt use an oxidising tint for fashion colours, thats why its fading, on white hair crazy colours can either take well or not, but to ensure longevity you can pre soften first to open the cuticles. Semi permanent vegetable dyes stain the cuticle so are a much better option than permanent...

    Complaints

Dont give refunds! Change it by all means, but dont give them their money back! If you feel you did as good a job as you can to meet their needs and theyre still not happy thats not a reason to refund a treatment and leaves you prone to getting walked all over, as well as being out of pocket.

    Teaming up with another hairdresser

Get some kind of contract or written agreement signed by both of you if you decided to do anything. I think it would make more sense for you to rent a chair off her tbh, and you both do your own clients with your own colour houses and products. Any "free" work is a bad idea and you will get...

    Graduate nightmare

Yeah thats true although if they ask what ive been doing for the past 3 years what could I say other than at uni?! ha. I havent made much of a big deal of it but I dont want to lie if im asked. Im happy to go towards more student type salons anyway as I would rather be doing fun colours and cuts...

    Graduate nightmare

Hi all, the time has finally come, I've finished uni and now looking to get into a salon full time. Have been messed about a couple of times already, and promised junior stylist places (as im only qualified to level 2) that have since fallen through for no real reason. Keeping on applying but...

    Apprenticeships

How discriminatory of them!! SO many hairdressers are dyslexic and dyspraxic and they manage just fine! Its not like youve got advanced parkinsons and will suddenly jerk your scissors into someones eye! That is really awful that they have turned you away for this, can you imagine the state of...

    Colour fading back too soon

Yeah ive used crazy colours to prepig with, and wella colour fresh and conditioner when in dire need. I bought some of that affinage quick pig spray and used it yesterday, seems alright its pretty easy to do a full head with so might be worth looking into that?

    Mermaid hair

What exactly is mermaid hair colour? Blues/greens/purples? Balayage? Full head bleach? It looks like a colour melt ombre type thing to me. You can achieve it however you want really, total creative freedom with that kind of thing. I'd say use semi permanent colours over toners, adore makes the...

What's the kindest colour removal method?

Seconding AcidPerm here, a colour remover is the best option for permanent tint removal. Bleach baths have their uses, but if you cant get box dye out with a colour remover a bleach bath usually wont do the job either. Ive only had that problem once mind and that was a heinous amount of black...

    Is hairdressing enough money?

You can earn a lot if your are self employed. Employed wages are ridiculous really. Once you feel experienced and confident enough to do so then go for it! You need to learn how to do accounts and keep track of stock anyway if you want your own salon, so becoming self employed is a natural...

    Colour Dynamics by Affinage

Meh im not keen. The colours are wishy washy and expensive! Do yourself a favour and either stick to pravana or use directions instead- stronger pigment and cheaper, so of course you can mix the colours to whatever shade you like, can use white conditioner as a much cheaper alternative to...

    Affinage vs Nxt?

I'd say stick with affinage, its consistent, affordable and much better quality than nxt. I have problems stocking it too as i live in cambridge and the nearest wholesaler that stocks it is 40 mins away! I either stock up every time Im near a pompadour or you can order it from capital or...

    Wella Color Fresh?

Yeah! Its alright though because its festival season now so my hairs neon orange and pink. Hopefully when i stop doing lame student jobs like bar work and save up enough capital to rent a chair it will be fine!

    Wella Color Fresh?

Theyre more like natural semis, i use them to prepig or to tone down really bright colours like red or orange when i need to find a job ha :D

    Sassoon collections-training material

Yeah its still worth it even if you havent done the course, its still a step by step instruction dvd, worth checking ebay they might have it cheaper

    Sassoon collections-training material

Yeah definitely worth it! Ive got one, its really helpful as you learn so much on the abc course its hard to take it all in, but these you can watch over and over and get it in your head :)
