    Make-up artists: let's share tips!

I love the Aldi highlighter in same pen as touché éclat. Really good value (about £4), not grainy, and easy to get hold of. Limited shades available (3 I think), but at such a bargain, I'm happy to buy all 3 and have a lil mix. Hth.x

    Best way to remove Gellux?

I always use acetone with wraps. I found it easier and faster. I only looked into acetone because the remover stings wherever it touches my own skin so was looking for an alternative and found that buffing nails well and acetone on pads inside foils wraps was the most efficient for me. Hth.x

    Issues with Gellux

I always found the gellux remover to be an issue. I switched to plain old acetone and haven't had any problems since. Hth Hun. X

    Waxing boohoo

It's probably already been said but could you try a refresher course? Or ask employer could you have a bit of support and practice on colleagues? Discounted prices for models just to get you feeling more confident? Or failing that there was someone on here organising the borrowing of the whole...

OMG HVLP 5008 Spray Tan Kit

I bought the omg kit. It was cheaper than most of the others and while there were a few bits you don't really need, the 3L of product gave me plenty to play around with and smell brilliant, I love the cherry.x

The well debated Patch Test for Eyelash Extensions

This happened to me. I wore lashes from may to January then for no apparent reason they started to get swollen, irritable even crusty for 2 days after application and I must have rubbed in my sleep as I seemed to lose lots. I end up having them removed and tried again 2 months later, different...

    Eyelash advice required!!!

I've seen her being made up for an event and she confessed to wearing 4 sets of strip lashes- natural lashes couldn't take that kind of weight from extensions alone. X

    Dilema, can I sack her?

Have you considered giving her a formal warning of some sort? That could be enough of a kick up the backside to make things better, or maybe she'll be so offended by being treated like the rest of the world that she'll move on, maybe with her mum?! At least by giving her a warning she knows...

Lvl lashes - same as eyelash perm?!

You use same chemicals for the "permanent" effect. The only difference Is the shape of the lashes at the end due to the rod/curler used. Hth X

    Waxing medical consent

I totally agree. Insurers don't want liability, doctors don't want liability and we're stuck in the middle with healthy clients that just want to be waxed. I've text the client and asked her to drop it in to nurse to sign off-so I guess I'll soon find out their view. Client is happy to...

    Waxing medical consent

Thanks for your help that's great. Her gp sees no problem and I trust what she says but it's just to please the insurer. I'm sure it'll be fine if they sign and stamp with their name & address etc. Can't believe the dr/nurse have never been asked this before. X

    Waxing medical consent

Hi there, It was just the way i was taught. This client's blood sugar is 6 and her diabetes is under control. No skin issues or loss of sensation so I would think she's fine to wax. The problem is my insurer (salon gold) have said they would want medical consent. It seems excessive for this...

    Waxing medical consent

Hi all, I have a client who wants to come in for waxing next week and is diabetic. She was surprised I even asked as apparently nobody ever has before. I referred get to gp/nurse for consent however they have both told her they won't write a letter of consent, and have never heard of this...

Waxing with Kim Lawless in the North West

I'd like to do the training too, and while I think you should have had the treatment to be able to explain to clients (which I have tonnes of times) I still am not comfortable getting my bits out in a room full of strangers. But from what I hear repeatedly, it is THE best training available, so...
