    Decanting nail chemicals

Hello Ikea do a set of 2 for a couple of pounds. I use these and haven't had any probs with them melting! I do tend to decant quickly and rinse the funnel just incase though. Tracy x

First time removing NSS acrylic nails

Hiya I think you'll really struggle to shift it. You could try filing the bulk of the product off then soak in acetone. Remember that the product used in alot of NSS's is actually designed for use by dentists to create crowns etc, so as you can imagine it will be rock solid. Good luck and I...

Inventing something other than acetone for removal

Hiya Buffered acetone is diluted to approx 90% acetone. 100% acetone is industrial strength and too harsh for salon use. Tracy x

Inventing something other than acetone for removal

Hiya Yes it is buffered. All acetone used in nail services should be buffered. Tracy x

First Shellac - Went a bit wrong

Hiya A lot of sunscreens damage Shellac. I'm guessing that could be the reason they didn't last as long as they should have. Tracy x

    Salon Services courses

I really wouldn't recommend training with them. I used to work at a Sally's that ran these courses and have seen first hand the shocking quality of the nails they deem acceptable :o( Tracy x

    My nails- help!

Hello I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your nails  You say it started about 3 months ago. Up until then were they normal and healthy? Has anything changed in your diet? Or have you started taking any sort of medication? Some times nail strenghteners can make this sort...

    Starting nail course on Monday!

Welcome to the highly addictive world of nails! :D I'm guessing you should have all you need to start you off, in your kit. I personally can't live with out my double ended curette, it's excellent for getting debris and non living tissue from down side walls of the nail (vital to prevent...

    Bio Sculpture's recommended status

It really annoys me when company's do this sort of thing. It's as if they've grown too big for their boots. They often forget that it was these smaller salons etc that supported them and helped them grow in their early days. Now they're huge and successful they can now cut these smaller...

Shellac disaster - used top coat instead of bottom coat!

Awww poor you! I nearly did this, luckily on myself though! I'm guessing it will probably peel or chip. The base coat grabs the nail plate and then anchors the colour in place. The top coat obviously isn't designed to do the same. Tracy x

Will I be seen as less of a professional?

You'll get there in the end. Just keep practising. Have you got a nail trainer? If not it maybe an idea to invest in one. It'll stop you catching peoples nail plates while you're perfecting you blending technique. I hated blending tips too! I used to take 4 hours when I started out too! You'll...

    I love S2

Hahaha I know that feeling well! You could almost set your clock by an S2 delivery! I sit with my chin in my hands gazing out of the window awaiting that wonderful sight that is the courier van to pull up outside! I'm sure the driver thinks I'm a sandwich short of a picnic! Hehehe. Tracy x

A teacher once said to me....if somebody gets you down just picture them sat on the loo! I tried it and it does make you smile, just try not to laugh to loudly in their face! Hehehe X

    Nail varnish

P.s a good tip when applying polish is to wipe the surface of the nail with acetone based polish remover just before you apply your base coat. This will take any surface oil away and prevent chipping. Tracy x

    Nail varnish

Hello My sister is a hairdresser and she swears by Salon System's French kit. I'm not sure if they have a coloured polish collection though. It's cheap and cheerful and stays put on her for a good week. I use OPI and CND on my clients. The CND base and top coats are excellent.

    Nail product recommendations!!

Hello I can highly recommend CND. Their SpaManicure & Pedicure ranges are fabulous and the results last for a good week after treatment. Xx
