    Christmas mayhem!

Happy Christmas to you. Very busy but glad I completely closed my diary 4 weeks ago and didn't fit in any extra appointments at the beginning and end of each day. Full day today and Monday and then having a small op on my foot which means a large bandage and I have to stay off it for a week...

    Home insurance?

I also had to let my home insurance company know that I was working from home. They didn't allow it so I changed to another company. You also need to let your mortgage company know.

A minefield, anyone know of advanced aromatherapy courses?!

It really did give me a better understanding of essential oils and made me understand why one bottle of (for example) geranium might have different properties to another bottle of geranium depending upon the amounts of the different chemicals within it. You start to look at the chemicals within...

A minefield, anyone know of advanced aromatherapy courses?!

I've done some amazing advanced aromatherapy courses with Rhiannon Lewis (EORC). She really gets into the chemistry behind aromatherapy. I believe she's based in France but does do some courses in the UK. I did mine in Manchester.

Eco friendly ways to clean feet before reflexology

I use hot towels / mitts which I then wash and reuse. Clients love them.

How to cope when your really busy!

I had a similar problem a few years ago. Once people realised they couldn't book quite so easily they too started to book ahead. Sometimes it just takes some people a bit longer to get used to changing what they've always done.

    Loyalty cards?

My clients get a stamp for each treatment they have. 10 stamps equals £10 off any treatment. Half price seems very generous...maybe 10 stamps if you're going to do that?

    Cutting down waste?

I really love this post. If we all just make small changes it has to make a difference. Since reading this thread I've started to recycle foils from shellac removal, use washable scrubbies for facials rather than cotton wool pads and reduced the amount of disposables I use for treatments...

    CND LED lamp 2019

That's very true. I couldn't find any reviews about it at all. Friends of mine who are nail techs have said it's just too expensive and have opted for other cheaper brands.

    CND LED lamp 2019

I already have 2 of the 1st LED lights for manicures (2 so that the client doesn't have to lean across and I don't have to move the lamp...and it gives me a back up as I'll never forget the Christmas my lamp broke and I had no back up [emoji33]). If I didn't have those then I'd have used the...

    CND LED lamp 2019

I got one last week for pedicures. So far... Pros... Love that the base comes off so you just place it over the feet - no more clients scraping nails on the lamp 60 second cures so you shave a few minutes off your treatment time Power cord attached securely into the back of the lamp and...

    Reflexology, is it popular?

Good luck with your course. If you ever have any questions don't hesitate to ask.

    Price advice

Hi, I am in the North West and I also charge £25. I don't charge extra for removal or glitter but equally don't give discount if they've removed their shellac themselves. I don't offer nail art as there are salons near me that specialise in that and my main work is holistic treatments. Good...

    Website advice

I'd really recommend getting a website done professionally. I started off creating my own but it was only when I got mine done properly by @BannerPenguin that I saw a massive increase in traffic and bookings. Lovely guy to work with too - totally recommend him.

    Reflexology, is it popular?

I find that reflexology is one of my most popular treatments. If you do decide to train as a reflexologist make sure you pick a course that gives you theory and lots of practical sessions so when you qualify you'll be confident in providing an effective treatment. It's one of my favourite...

    A chance to save lives

I totally agree with the OP'S recommendation to do this course as it really does save lives. I was lucky enough to be part of the initial cohort of therapists doing this it as one of the founders is local to me. If anyone needs any extra incentive it can be used as part of your CPD too.

    Massage setup

I use a horse shoe shaped face pillow with disposable covers and clients find it very comfortable. Search 'massage facial pillow' online and it should come up.

    In-home salon

Check with your local council as some charge business rates / issue licenses etc. You also need to check with your mortgage provider and home insurance as some don't allow you to work from home. Regarding the insurance you can shop around as some are fine with it as long as you have separate...
