    Being a qualified barber

Absolutely! It's great getting experience in salon and really helps build your confidence.. It's also reassuring to have the support of work colleagues in your early years! :) If you are employed by someone, they take care of insurance.. Unless your self employed within the salon (eg, rent a...

    Being a qualified barber

U don't need to worry about insurance while your training in college. But when uve qualified and if your going freelance u will need public liability insurance. It can range from £45 for the year upwards. If u want insurance to do mobile while ur not qualified u can expect to pay a lot more or...

How was November for your business?

I'm surprised by November.. I've been non stop and I'm fully booked over Christmas too. The downside to being busy tho is when clients try to change their appointment or cancel and then can't get back in! Arrghhh! February is my worst month!

    Brazilian blow dry advice please?

One of my clients saw the brazilian blow dry advertised on tv (home shopping) and has ordered some to do at home.. I have no idea about the Brazilian blow dry but pretty sure that doing it at home by yourself can't be a good thing?? Also hasn't some of them been banned in the uk now due to them...

    Working in a salon

Swings in roundabouts I reckon..if ur running into your lunch because ur behind time, then u can't really ask for that time back. But thankfully u will speed up over time! I'm sure there will be times like in January where it will be quiet so then u may have longer lunch breaks! Never a bad...

Will high lift tint work ?

To be on the safe side and asure it lifted I'd use a bleach.. Maybe with 3% if it's dry or it wont need too much lifting? Tint doesn't lift tint.. I think a high lift will only give a shade difference around the root/mid lengths. And even from a base 8 to a 12 your wanting about 3 shades...

Hair extensions training, not a hairdresser

Who's arguing??? Everyone has either given their opinion (which the OP asked for), given constructive criticism or advised. I don't see why uve got yourself upset?? It's a forum.. Expect different opinions from different angles. Like uve said, we are all different.. So some might think...

Copycats should I be offended or flattered?

I can honestly say I'm one of a kind.. (no sarky jibes there please lol!) :D I like to experiment a lot.. And I love the creative side of my job.. It's an art form in my eyes. I wouldn't copy someone else's art. I think thats why hairdressers differ so much. Technicals il pick up on.. But...

Hair extensions training, not a hairdresser

Anyone else noticed there's stacks of these threads at the mo. All circling round the same issues.. Whether it be nails, hair, beauty. There's a whole lot of geeky frustration going on!! Lol!

Hair extensions training, not a hairdresser

Oh I don't plan to do extensions! I'm not a great fan if I'm honest. I was just wondering how far someone would be willing to travel to do a course that's out next year opposed to being a year ahead now in a government run college. Curiosity!

Copycats should I be offended or flattered?

Personally.. And this is MY opinion.. I find it insulting and undermining. It makes me feel like my natural flair is easily mimicked and somehow easy. Can open.. Worms everywhere!! Arrghhh! Lol! U do realise there will be arguments on this thread don't you! Lol! ;)
