    Reiki

Here across the pond in the USA, Reiki is recognized by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. In order to practice massage in most states in the USA you must pass their standard test, and abide by their ethics. CE hours are awarded for taking Reiki classes if...

    Reiki

Reiki will give you back many times what you give to it. Does that make sense? I personally have never charged for pure Reiki sessions, I do charge for other services i perform in which at some time in the treatment i add Reiki. The Reiki will make your massage, facials, and other services much...

    Reiki

I did level 1 then 1 1/2 years later did level 2. Two years later i did level 3. Four years after that I did my Masters and Instructors together. I was/have been working in a spa environment for 18 years, and use the Reiki daily in Massage, and Facial services, as well as pure Reiki sessions...

Problems with pedicures-what are your thoughts?

Back in the day, foot files were quite inefficient. Not the case today, so i can see why companies may have taught to file first then soak. But in my opinion its a terrible mess and literally skin dust is all over for 3-4 feet in all directions. I use a stainless file base that uses disposable...

    Oil or powder in waxing?

I use a ground silk (not the same as talc) on all facial, back, under arm, and leg waxing. It absorbs perspiration and provides an adhesion break on the skin. I use the oil on all intimate waxing, it allows me smoother wax application and use of less wax as well as the adhesion break to the...

Hey, old timers! This is for you!

I would qualify as a "old timer" (both age, and years in business) and i'm sooo still learning new stuff. Sculpted gel nails are my Nemesis at this moment, but i will wrangle it! Its coming along slower than i'd like, but patience is a good thing. I have no idea what's next in store for me...

Buying an LED lamp - help!

I just saw a new lamp at my beauty distrubitor that has both UV AND LED in the same unit!!! Suppose to cure/harden anything currently on the market! It was listed at $175 US. I'd love to ditch one of my lamps and just have one on the table. Not sure if this helps but hope it does!!

    Waxing and client discomfort

I had an instructor tell me if I had clients that are not pain tolerant to offer this advice to them. Future waxing sessions they should not have caffeen that morning and they should take one aspirin one hour before waxing session would minimize the pain. (not as a pain reliever) But the aspirin...

    Ideas to promote male waxing?

Try this approach, you know many ladies under the age of 40 favor intimate grooming with shaving or waxing. So that means there are lots and lots of ladies that are big fans of 'being tidy". Right? So, i propose that you need to address these ladies about their men as in men like to have their...

Non staining top coat for hair colourists?

a I know what you mean, i personally have to wear gloves. I use the latex OR gloves that a ER nurse gets for me. They are form right and left handed fitting. Probably $$$ but i like em. If i could I'd go without em but i'm also a Massage Therapist and stained or dirty looking hands or nails...

Non staining top coat for hair colourists?

As with most things in life the simplest fix is the best fix! Thanks "G"! and thanks CH ! I still don't understand why a top coat is being applied as the nails are buffed to a beautiful shine to start with. Maybe I'll put a box of gloves for their Xmas stocking! :wink2: A client recommends...

Non staining top coat for hair colourists?

Is there such a thing? My girls are so frustrated that every time they do a hair color the top coat on their acrylic nails stains and looks dirty. I tried to do a forum search because I'm sure this is a common problem but its not working out. They said i could be the hero if i can figure this...

Microdermabrasion slated in The Sun today

Everyone's skin is unique, their skin functions differently than everyone else's. I have done Microdermabrasion for 8 years and people certainly get excellent results with different schedules of service. However, this salon/tech./client situation was obviously bad from the start!! I have some...
