    Hiring

HIya, I had a nose about, but couldn't find where I was meant to post a job post? Do we have a forum here? Or is it frowned upon?

Asking for a placement on Facebook

I wouldn't mind a private facebook message, structured like a letter, but not just a post on my page.

    Taking card payments?

I'm on a traditional PDQ, and am considering seeing if I can get it cheaper (had it for 3 years) but I doubt it will be possible! Sigh

Do any of you give discounts etc to encourage facebook check ins?

We offer free wifi too. The password is something fun, which all staff can give out. We don't offer incentives for logging in, but I would consider it if my facebook page was new.

    Refund policy

I don't have an official policy, but do give refunds. I also give all my staff the power to decide whether to give refunds. Clients are often super forgiving and lovely if they feel an unhappy situation is dealt with well. I've even had offers of refunds turned down by clients! But it still made...

Advice, client wanting to charge her phone

We're constantly charging clients' phones (as well as staff) and clients love it. We offer wifi too. I can't imagine a salon saying no?!? I'd be pretty miffed if I was a client.

Percentage of takings on staff costs

What percentage of your incoming goes to rent, and what goes to staff etc? I'm trying to find if there is a standard percentage or aim?

    Anyone use hootsuite?

Yes I do, I actually used to train small businesses to use it too! Maybe I should start that up again! Love it!

    Baylage/ombre, what do you charge?

I charge slightly less for balyage as it takes us less time. I charge £130 for a full head of highlights and £110 for balyage. Charge an extra £40 for darkening the root.

Telling a customer not to come back

I'm not sure! Just feel I need to practise my sentence before I need to say it!

Telling a customer not to come back

She causes my staff too much anxiety. She thinks she is 'helping' by telling them how to do their job, and she doesn't know what she wants. So she explains what style she wants, then changes her mind etc. My staff are awesome, and 99% of our clients are awesome. The stress isn't worth it, and my...

Telling a customer not to come back

Thanks, I don't want to give her another chance, as it isnt that she is being rude, just that she is a 'character'.....I don't think she could change even if she wanted to!

Telling a customer not to come back

She just isn't worth the money. She thinks she knows everything, she was happy with the hair, but it just isn't worth the atmosphere and stress.
