Need a rant! I'm not one for Facebook posts, although I would love to!

In business you need thick skin I’m afraid, the ability to shrug of random hurtful comments. It’s quite sad but true, that 90% of “friends”are there for their benefit and should the salon down the road offer £5 off they are the first in the que. you gotta put on a happy face while sticking 2...

Should I find another salon to work in?

If you want to leave and no one is taking on... make your own escape route. Create a salon for yourself. Any space will do, I’ve seen salons in corner shops, gyms etc. If you don’t change things for the better, no one else will..... do it

    Washing machine

Why rent? Can you not afford to buy a new one? Don’t mean to sound rude...I would have thought a salon washing machine would be used a lot more than a domestic one, unless you have ten kids lol. So I’d expect a 12 month life span, any more and I’m on to a winner. It stops working and I just buy...

    Renting a beauty room

Personally I can never understand why someone will be ok with renting a room for 2 days thus losing 3/5ths of protencial revenue. My concern would be if someone came along and offered to rent for a full week, and they drop you like a ton of bricks for the extra rent

    Renting a beauty room

Depends if the salon are charging by the day or week? If by day, is anyone else using the room

    Maternity leave

joys of self employment! Simply play it by ear, I think you get an inclination of when you are ready to go back. Most important thing is to enjoy the baby xx

A client won't leave me alone!

There's always a few clients that need their hand holding more than most. I think the industry needs to change slightly to be brought into line with other businesses. Stylists, beauty techs and the like are deemed on call 24/7. Phone calls in the middle of the evening requesting bookings etc...

    Renting a beauty room

Hi, are you stopping the mobile side? If no, how will that work, mobile for day 1&2, then in the room for the others?

Renting nail tables out in a new salon

I have to question a protencial chair rental the reasoning behind preferring a percentage over a fixed day rate. If they earn £100 aday, as the landlord/lady you will get £40. as appossed to the £25 day rate. The only reason behind this thought is for 2 or 3 days they won't be in work as they...

Renting nail tables out in a new salon

id always go for a fixed rent. I don't think you are miles out on pricing. Try a lower figure to attract them in with the understanding there will be an increase later

    Booking apps, who uses them?

I'm looking at booksy for me and the chair rentals, seems all good. Who uses it and what are your experiences? Or what other app do you use?
