How many files do you guys go through?

I keep two files for each client that are used only on them. They are washed, disinfected, and stored for their next appointment. They each get an EzFlow Grey Wolf and Grey Fox and they usually last for about 4 appointments - - full set, fill, backfill, and fill. They are spendy at $1.25 each...

    DIY Brochures and Cards...

Using Microsoft Publisher I've created my own business cards, the salon's brochures, flyers, and gift certificates. They've all turned out lovely and very professional looking.

I've done my nails and no one likes them.

I LOVE THEM! I always wear something that suits me and is a bit out there - they grab people's attention and it's helped to attract new clients. By the way, almost 90% of my clients have glitter acrylic on their nails - mostly a subtle color - but they love it!

    Solid L&P in zones 2 and 3...scary?

I've done black on the nail plate with a tiger stripe design on the free edge - all with acrylic. Just do the black very thin so it isn't pulled over the other color or do a reverse application (still, very thin) and then cap it with clear. About the lifting - - If it's just a temporary set...

Oh no,i think im allergic to q monomer:-(

I was getting terrible contact dermatitis and itching from the q-monomer on my ring finger because I rest my brush on the cuticle area. After trying finger cots, latex gloves, barrier cream, cortisone cream, etc. with no luck I decided to try nitrile gloves. They have really helped! I'm...

    CND UV Dry

I use it over polish or french manicures and cure in my normal UV lamp. Never had any problems and the polish is completely dry - no smudges!

    P&W or Coloured Acrylis/Gels?

My clientele divides up like this... 50% pink and white 25% colored acrylic 25% pink glitter and white glitter acrylic Most of my colored acrylic clientele are really having fun with acrylic designs such as tiger stripes, 3 color fades, acrylic nail art, custom blends, 2-3 colors, etc. So...

    Custom blend-ezflow

I do lots of custom blends with EzFlow. If your looking for a cover pink to extend the nail bed then Anthony's recipe is great! But don't stop there - mix away and you'll have several different shades of pink to choose from. Very fun!

Desperate for help with bubbles in L&P!!

I was having the same problem and was going nuts! When I moved to a larger brush and pressed by brush into the powder instead of dragging it helped tremendously!

    Filing Hard Skin in Pedicures

I use the rasp and then finish with CND's Callus Smoother but haven't tried it with the feet dry - will give that a go next time. BTW - credo blades are prohibited in many states in the US. I would never use one although I have many clients that think that's the only way to remove the hard...

SOAKING OFF ACRYLIC - whats your preferred method?

I have just started using the method with aluminum foil and have to say YIPPEE! So easy and way less messy - the acrylic literally slides right off. Rough up the acrylic with a coarse file to make porous, apply a cotton ball soaked with CND product remover to the nail, wrap in a piece of...

    Nails sore after soak off

I agree with Fiona with redness could be from the initial application. They are probably sore from "rough" removal. I would probably put a new set on as they will feel better after they have received a protective coating.

    problem nails, lifting, damaged

In my CND Master's class we were told NOT to use primer with Retention+ because it inhibits the bond between the acrylic and the keratin of the nail. Maybe just try nail fresh and scrub fresh with Retention on one hand and Radical with scrub fresh and primer on the other hand to see which lasts...

    weird request - flared/convex nails

You guys are awesome! I'm so glad that I wasn't off my rocker thinking that this was strange. Thanks for the confidence boost - next time I'll just say "sorry, I've worked long and hard to NOT make nails that look like that." By the way, I didn't make hers like that as there was no way to do...

    weird request - flared/convex nails

I had a request today from a young lady who wanted her free edge to flare out in a fan shape and to dip in the middle (convex, no c-curve). Has anyone else had a request like this? I thought it was very strange - not to mention ugly. Anyway, her nails were so short that I had to use tips (I...

which top coat do you use and why?

Over un-polished acrylic's I use EzFlow's UV30 and Never Yellow Sealer together or IBD's Intense Seal with a UV light. If the client wears polish I use Out the Door (seems to yellow over a french, though) or Creative's UV Dry. I just picked up a bottle of Total Eclipse by INM to see if...

IBD UV Intense Seal, crystals on nails??

Cherish, I don't think that the EzFlow Gel products are available in the States yet. The UV 30 in the blue bottle is what I think you are talking about. It's not UV cured topcoat. I use this first and then apply EzFlow's Never Yellow Sealer. Both coats seem to dry within 3 minutes.

    Foot Spa or Foot bowl?

I use lovely copper bowls with warm stones and floating fresh flowers. The ambience they create is wonderful plus they are super easy to clean!

    Clients doing drugs

I would've packed up and left. That's just rude behavior. They could have waited until you left.
