    Pilot gel pens?

Hi Collette, yes, a lot of techs use the pens for nail art. You would use them before you apply your top coat! Happy painting!

Pink & Whites Using White Tips

I usually use the white tips, then overlay with white powder. If she has pretty pink nailbeds, I use clear powder. I find that using the white tips allows me to have a nice smile line to follow. I have not perfected my smiles yet. BTW Leigh Ann, I looked at your pink & white pic and wanted to...

    Male client for enhancements

Jen, I don't think that women are upset about straight men getting manicures. It is when gay men with a flair for dressing as women come it that there could be a problem. I think it is a great idea to promote nail care for men. Go for it!!!

    Girls Night Out

Crystal organza is a stiff shiny fabric that is great in gift baskets. Easter grass is the colored plastic "grass" that you stuff your kids Easter baskets with to keep the eggs from breaking....ok, why am I laughing? :D

    gloss

The gel top coat I use is Star Nail UV gel seal. It cures in my 6 watt UV light in 3 minutes, but I do change my bulbs every 6 months. I have never tried it in my 9 watt gel light as it is a one-hander and its faster actually to let them go over and cure at the 6 watt light while I clean my...

    Girls Night Out

Great idea about the sis-in-law! As for the basket, you can put in anything that you retail. You could make specialty baskets like one with a pretty nail file, lotion, and a polish, topcoat and quick dry spray. Or do a pedi basket with a foot file, small bottle of foot soak, toe seperators and...

    Girls Night Out

Hi Tracy, I did this for a 20th anniversary party our shop had. I had only been there since May and it was set for July. I was in the market for new clients, so what I did was set up a table, with a pretty tablecloth, set out flyers telling them in detail the services I offered, I had made gift...

What is the popular style for nails where you live?

Well, here in the South :sunny: most are very conservative...short, oval and those mauvie :pukeoff: colors I hate.. LOL The nail tech that I took over for did strictly acrylic nails...no permanent french..she did not even have a box of white tips! no wraps..no art .. Her customers were...

Whats the length of your nails?

I don't know how they get such good closeups. I bought a Kodak digital camera ($450) and still can't get good clear closeup shots! Grrrrrrrrrr Maybe being camera illiterate has something to do with it LOL

Whats the length of your nails?

I wear my nails about the same length as Anna's. I have no trouble working with them. Guess I'm used to them. I don't really have any tips on keeping your nails nice. I never wear polish, just pink & white gels ! Occasionally I might add a sparkle to them for special occassions though!

Advice on Lifting - Hairdressers as clients

I agree with the Geek :fro: . I have 4 hairstylists that have acrylics and I usually service them on an off day or only if they have had a break between shampooing to let their nails dry well. It took me a while to figure out that this was causing lifting! I also don't recommend that...

    MMA use in UK

I can always tell if it is MMA as soon as i start filing it. It has a sick, sweet smell. :pale: I immediently tell the client my suspicions and offer to soak it off. Most are horrified when I tell them what has been used on their nails and that is has potential harmful side effects if it is...

    Can't polish worth a darn!

Ah yes, those 5year old polish days. I know them well, it is usually when I have had too much caffeine :ack: or when I have a client who I know is extra picky (makes me nervous :? ) I use the push pull method and it works great. One thing I always notice about new techs is that they don't load...
