Renting a room next to an established salon?

Hi from your experience how would you approach this situation? I am looking at renting a room in an established Chiropodist clinic on a busy high street. A couple of doors down there is a beauty therapists that mainly does nails. I am a holistic therapist rather than beauty so offer...

    Massage length of time?

I would check with the client. If that is too long for them/you and after the consultation maybe spend the majority of time on their back but also do arms turn them over and do shoulders and pecs and arms. All connected and would help their back.

    Massage length of time?

Depends really. I had someone book for an hours full body massage the other day online. During consultation she confirmed she only wanted her back doing for all of that time. It can be done. Though makes me work harder making sure I am doing a good massage for that length of time! It really...

    Social media mentor help needed!

Eco friendly ways to clean feet before reflexology

Huge bowl of water or better still a foot spa for the client to soak (and clean!)their feet whilst I complete their consultation form. I wasnt taught this when I trained, i was told to use surgical spirit on cotton wool to clean. But I see a warm soak as a really good start to relaxing the...

    Inside out facial

Ive been reading about this lately and wondered if anyone has has any expereince of it as its meant to be good for mature skin but also for relieving tension in the jaw. Does anyone know where you train or is it something that you can adapt with your own facial massage ? Planning on having a...

Strengths you bring to your career?

My age. Im 40+ and whilst ive been qualified for over 10 years have only recently started to rent a room. I think with my age came patience, interest in health and wellbeing (im more of a holistic practitioner than beauty) and a genuine care to want to help. When I was younger i wasnt like this...

Anyone bought an Eve Taylor mobile therapist’s kit recently?

Thanks Matthew for your reply! The team have sent me through the details about the various packages. I may try a couple of the smaller sizes for now to get client feedback and see what is used the most. Then if popular will buy the essential package. I use the brand myself and absolutely...

    Hot stones

Hi it depends on your current level of qualification and where you are based. Im a trained Holistic therpaist and did a one day top up with Ellisons. It was good and I would recommend. Im already an experinced therapist so it was how to use the stones rather than learn the massage bit If...

    Ear candles

Its not a popular treatment of mine. Only my husband seems to be a repeat customer! I think the treatmemt is very relaxing, and good for blocked sinus, tension headaches, general time out. Not sure about the ear wax claim now, though this was a big selling point when I trained. I think its...

    Hot stones kit

Thanks for the reply! Ive ordered a large bag, looking forward to it arriving and seeing how it compares to a heater.

    Ear candles

I would say dont do a treatment you dont 100% believe in as clients want a therapist they trust. If you are unsure of its benefits it would be a difficult treatment to promote.

Years of training vs 1/2 day courses?

It depends on the course. I studied Aromatherapy for a year and still dont feel it is enough so a one day course woudnt be sufficient. Ive training in massage, sports massage, reflexology all for a year at a time and have just done a one day course in hot stones. This felt right. I think the...

    Hot stones kit

Thanks for the reply. The heating bags do look good though are quite pricey. Do you know approx how many stones you could get in a small bag? Would it be enough for a back massage?
