    CND Lace Up/Corset nails

I love getting "behind the scenes" thoughts on these great photos. This one is one of my all-time favorite CND shots. (and I LOVE the model's makeup!).

Nail techs who wear Shellac - does acetone dull them?

No problem here with acetone. It's filing that dulls the finish for me. :) Just the way I hold the file, I guess. But I'd rather scratch up and dull my own manicure than scrape clients' skin, so I'm okay with it. :)

    Nail damage and Shellac?

She's not peeling it off, is she? Because that will take some nail plate layers with it. Not that I'VE ever done that, oh no no no. (ahem.). :)

    Brisa top coat over Shellac?

I've been using it on clients with Shellac over enhancements. You have to file it off them, anyway (it doesn't soak off), and I want to conserve the Shellac top coat--everybody's out of it! It's not as glossy as the Shellac, but it seems to work. And it might get shinier once I get new bulbs for...

How long did it take you to do a decent set of nails??

It took me about six months before I was happy with how my enhancements looked. Then it took another two years before I figured out how to keep them from lifting--mostly. :) That is a battle with a few of my clients even still! You WILL get better with practice, but also with continuing...

    Brisa Gel out of date??

I'm sure there is an expiration, I just don't know what it is :o I'll bet there are a couple of folks here who know the answer to that one. But usually just warming up the gel will make it feel thinner and more workable.

Crazy ? about Brisa Gel & glitter

After 12 months, you might want to get a new bottle of Brisa Gloss. :)

    Different hand types- shape nails

If the short, fat fingers have a wide nail plate with a squarish cuticle, then I go for a soft square that just barely extends past the fingertip. If the nail is round at the cuticle, I'll suggest a round shape for the extention edge. I personally don't think that short, fat fingers look their...

    Reputable Insurance Company USA

I am looking into joining the International Nail Tech Association, and they offer, as one of their benefits, liability insurance (very comprehensive too, from what I've read so far.). You might check out their website!

Ever knocked over a bottle of nail fresh?

I used to knock my Acid-free Primer over all the time, but now I put it in my roll of Performance forms and no more spills! Fits perfectly and has the CND brand on it. Hee!

Nail art canes. What are they like to use?

Here is my opinion about using canes for nail art: I haven't seen a good example of a nail that isn't too thick when you embed canes in the acrylic. No matter how thin you slice them, somehow the finished product is just too thick--at the cuticle, the stress area, and the free edge. Also, they...

So, what was on your dinner table this Christmas day???

Okay, I have one question for all you Brits--what is a pudding? I know what it's NOT (the American version of chocolate pudding in a cup. :D), but what is it exactly? I ate a Christmas Eve dinner with my parents--toasted cheese sandwiches and tomato soup. YUMMY. Then on Christmas, we pretty...

Will I still be a Nail tech at 60?

I'll be doing nails for as long as my body lets me. I might have to do fewer clients, but no way am I putting my brush down--not till I'm pushing up daisies. :)

    Help with custom blend

Ah Heather, you beat me to it. :) I do this very thing with a couple of my clients, who like the coverage at the free edge, but want to see their moons. Feathering is a MUST. Keep practicing, and you'll get it!

Do you ask your distributor/educator technical and product related questions?

The only thing I ever ask my distributor about is if they'll be getting a certain product in any time soon. Seriously, *I* know more about my product than they do--they really are just sales reps there. I'm glad I have them to get my stuff, but as far as education goes, they suck. They don't...

Full set of nails in 1hour??

I've done full sets in an hour when I sculpt, and that's with full prep. But it's also on a client with near-perfect nail plates (no nail biters!) and a good free edge that I can fit the form under. I hand file everything, too. This is not the norm, however. I usually do them in and hour and...

    Incased koi fish

How the heck am I supposed to give constructive critique when there's nothing to pick at? Well, okay, the only thing I can think of is "Gosh, everyone's doing koi fish these days." But you know what? Your koi fish is GORGEOUS. And the length and shape of the nail, perfect. I'd love to see an...

First sculpted pink and white nails

The not-quite-soreness could be from the product curing--it shrinks as it cures, and you may be feeling this. It could also be from an incorrectly sized tip. Hard for us to tell, though, without pictures. Next time, snap some if you can, and post in the critique section. :)

L&P i did on myself yesterday

These are pretty, length seems good for you, love the shape of the free edge, and the sidewalls look straight. I can't see the apex (maybe when you get those other two pix up :) ). The only real problem I see with them is they don't elongate your fingers as much as they could. You are a...
