    Weave Extentions

Hi There I know they are probably frowned upon but ive got weave extentions - the ones that are glued in. I personally love them because I can buy the hair from a afro caribean beauty shop for £30 and my hairdresser friend glues them in for free. I think they look fab (as long as you have...

Help Me!!! Bleach Blonde turned ash/grey

Hi There Before I start ill say .. im not a hairdresser BUT I have been bleaching my hair for about 5 years and I have noticed that everytime I have it done the result can be totally different - and sometimes mine does come out ashy. If that happens I ask my hairdresser to apply a toner...

    Bleach advice

Im a self confessed bleach addict ... I have been having bleach to the scalp forever - and have recently seen girls with a gorgeous shiny pink "tone" on their bleach - it looks delcious, i know its a toner, and I know a salon i used to go to called it "milkshake" I understand it might be a...

Weird Experience .. or was it ?

That has reassured me somewhat :), I must admit she did do an absolutely beautful job and she really did faff with my nails until they were perfect. She then set them under the UV light once she had done all the work. I have looked after them really well using solar oil every night so maybe...

Weird Experience .. or was it ?

I went into a new salon to have a gel overlay on my nails, usually the technitian would use a liquid (gelly) substance which is cured under a lamp. This girl however used a powder and what I can only think is the same monomer used in acrylics and then cured it under a lamp - its really strong...

    The Nail Trainer

I love my nail trainer, its brilliant when you want to try something new, you cant harm it or cut it - and its great for practising nail art. I do however prefer working on a real person - it is as anatomically correct as a plastic hand can be - but nothing beats the interaction and movements...

How do you do your french polish??

I love French Manicures ... and doing them. I do a base coat, one layer of ridge filler if needed - for a perfect finish one coat of a warm or cool pink (i hate peach french manicure - but then again its up to the client) one layer of white on the tip and super shiney top coat.

    kiddy friendly polish

Theres always good old tinkerbell polish - that peals off, they do it in a salmon pink, and baby pink, as far as i am aware you can still get it at toys r us, and local toy shops - if you dont tell her she wont know

    Forms vs. tips

I cant wait to learn to sculpt. Reading the "press" on here has made me more determined than ever to learn. Tips drive me mad, i hate filing them, thinning them, and applying them - if there is a process out there which means you dont need to use them and the result is better and lighter - well...

Going through far too many files...

I also get through a lot of files and have found this thread very intresting. I have been sending away all my clients with their own file and buffer, which they can bring to their next appointment, or ill use a fresh one. I just like using a sharp (blunted on the edges of course) file for each...

    Is Essential Nails Certificate Legal?

What Geeg has stated is pretty much exactly what Essential Nails told me when i questioned them. I am undertaking a couple of their courses and they are very good. They have answered all my questions ~(some rather tricky - i never leave a stone unturned) very honestly and well. In their...

For Nail Tech's who worked through the 80's

Yeah it peeled off - it was really weird stuff, there would always be one little bit that had set like "grown up varnish" that was fun to pick off. Tinkerbell also did a perfume - it really did smell horrible, but it made me feel all grown up !

    I dont like etching ...

You fellow Geeks are always so great at giving advice so I thought Id try you at this one ... In my course we were taught to buff off the shine, then etch post sterilisation of the nail and surrounding area. They did however tell us that there are issues around whether to etch or not - but in...
