I have been using a small 9 watt lamp for curing nobility. I have had no problems with clear colours but with coloured nobility I think there may be an under-curing problem.

What I mean is that when I wipe the sticky layer away after 2 or 3 coats, a lot of the gel is transferred onto the pad and leaves an almost bare transparent area on the cured nail. I then feel I need to keep applying more coats for a decent coverage but the gel gets too thick and this leads to peeling!

I have just ordered a 36 watt tunnel lamp and wondered if this is firstly ok to use for nobility ( I hope so!) and also will this help with the curing problem.

As this lamp is 36 watt rather than the 9 watt does it require less curing time?

when curing colour gels the deeper pigments sometimes mean that more curing time is required.

depending on the brand of the bulb and the age of it too, more or less u.v rays may be given out by it.

i use a 4 x 9w bulb lamp for nobility gels but it will cure in a single bulb lamp too.

i do a 2- 2 1/2 minute cure for each layer.
also you should apply your layer of clear gel before you wipe with cleanser, do not wipe between layers.

Thanks Susan

I think I probably was wiping before applying the clear

This makes sense now!

Can I also ask where I might be able to get a small jar to decant my clear into as I think I would prefer using the gel brush to apply it. It comes out quite thick at times. I guess the jar would have to be solid in colour i.e. not transparent so as to protect the clear gel. I would also like a couple of jars to mix my colours.

at my last meeting with the manufacturers, i asked if they could start selling empty jars for mixing and they told me they would consider it.

meanwhile i use empty ones or ones i bought from ebay for my colour mixes.
you do need opaque ones. you could maybe get by with clear ones if you wrap some black tape round them and keep in a drawer at all times.

the clear is available in a jar as well as the polish style bottle, you could maybe buy a jar and top it up from the bottle as you run low.

I have just started using lechat and have found this problem too - I find that I end up wiping off half the coloured gel too.

Susan - does the colour not come off onto the clear gel brush if you dont wipe the coloured gel before applying the final clear layer?

Thanks Angel fingers - I have mended my ways - excellent results!!

thanks for the advice.

glad its worked out for you, i'm always glad to help.:)

Sorry to confuse you but I meant the question above.

never has for me. make sure you have a reasonable amount of clear gel on the brush and use a light touch to float it over and not drag it off.

if there is any colour on the brush, just wipe it before putting it back in the clear gel.

Thanks Susan

the coloured gel doesnt come off on the clear gel brush!

Lechat is a great product - nice and strong and very easy to work with.

BTW a 9w lamp is sufficient
