Does he have any special interests, hobbies, favourite foodie items?

If you have a local branch to you, there's a specialised shop called Men-Kind, which sells lots of little gifts and gadgets which you can incorporate into your 50 gifts idea.

You could get Vistaprint or similar to do personalised mug, mouse mat, coasters, key ring etc?
Scratch card, lotto ticket, favourite chocolate/sweets/beer/wine...

Does he wear glasses for reading at all?? I got my dad an awesome wooden nose with a moustache that you place the glasses on when not using them! I think it was from amazon. He loves it!

I would get a couple of big gifts and lots of minis. Any kind of wowcher or groupon offer where you can spend time together is nice.
