Hi just wondering any mobile technicians do you use a normal bowl or foot spa for a pedicure ?
Also anyone who works from home do you use a bowl or foot spa?

Footsie foot bath. Never bowl.

Thanks for that advice i just wasn't sure because i was looking at some old threads and they were saying they use a bowl. For my training its states i don't need a foot spa for training purposes but i thought i would have to get a foot spa once passed.x

Same for me. The footsie is great for mobile because you change the liner and are ready for the next client.

I always just use a pedicure bowl for mobile and in salon, it suits me and it one less thing to get PAT tested! Lol!

Out if interest why would you never use a bowl? X

Hi i research the footsie spa a bit pricey at the moment but i will get one due to hygiene reasons,as you got the liners.
But i did find a footsie starter kit which is just a bowl not a spa but comes with liners.
Also sorry to go on,but would it be ok to get a normal foot spa and just clean it out with bacteria spray after each use? or even a bowl ?
Just a thought?

I use a foot spa and clean with disinfectant after each client. This is how I was taught in college and it works for me.

Thank you i thought you could do that as en supply a foot spa with there course.
I am new to this and i dont want to go out spending money on products if not needed.

I was planning on getting a bowl as ive had footspas in the past but not been able to use the soaks etc in them, so was planning to buy a nice big pedi bowl instead. Why would you never use a bowl?

Footsie bath is probably the best thing ever, the worst thing ever? Inflatable pedi bowl - slippery, busts easy and too big when inflated.. a bit like my ego after a long weekend :D

The only thing that makes me nervous of a foot spa is the fact that viruses and bacteria get stuck in the remnants of grease ( from skin!!) in the tubes and so you can't clean that with just a spray round the bowl area.

You would have to use a specially made disinfectant that would get into those areas
So I use a very large acrylic salad server ( don't know what I will do if I ever break that one!!) that sits in a beautiful wooden bowl which allows for flowers etc round it

Re the Footsie Spa, if you have the liner in do you get bubbles round the feet? sorry for stupid question but I can't find that out easily

Mostly because of the way I perform pedicures. I need the water to stay warm, massage is also nice addition. For years I used few different kind of foot spas, it was quite difficult to find a good one - with heat but no massage for example. With footsie I am perfectly happy first beacuse of hygiene, second - I like design, retractable cord.
But only for training I would probably use some kind of bowl, these spa things cost a lot, and there are more important things to spend money on when you start your business.

Yea, this is the reason I finally bought Footsie, I was using foil liners in normal spa, but it was a bit difficult and messy.
Footsie has no bubble massage, only vibrations. I never used bubbles, it produced too much foam anyway :)

Look for a foot spa with option "heat only" - not every client likes the massage. Also invest in a desinfectant for foot spas, there are areas impossible to reach with spray. But no bowl, nothing is worst then keeping feet in cold water.

thank you good advice x

I have just bought a large resin pedicure bowl. It was pricey at over £100 but it looks lovely with some flowers floating in it. On the down side it is a little heavy when full. As I'm mobile I tend to fill it up so far then top it up with a washing up bowl. I then remove some of the water with a jug and washing up bowl before I empty the contents at the end of the treatment. A little bit more work but it does look lovely, comes in its own carry case and is easy to sterilize. Also I don't hav2 worry about pat testing or trailing wires in clients homes.

I use a belava foot bath (non-electronic) with the liners if i need to... most of the time its more eco to just sanitize as you go along. For my full price luxury pedicures i use the Hive massaging foot spa which is great! I think its nice to have two options.

I have a babyliss foot spa. It has three settings- massage, bubbles, bubbles and massage, so the client can pick the setting they want
I had a bowl, but couldn't get on with it

I have the belava bath with disposable liners it's fab!

Re the cold water, we were advised on training to fill a small flask with hot water and keep at your side while you do the pedi, topping up to warm it up. It doesn't take much hot water added to make it really warm xx
