:rolleyes:Hi can anyone let me in on some tips for soaking of extension nails,as i have been told jus to soak them in acetone,is there a faster way??

I wonder how much time girls have wasted sitting there with their fings in a bowl of acetone?! A good on-the-go trick is the cotton ball method, I warn you might look a little silly but its worth it lol! i usually file off the top layer, especially if you have a UV top coat, the acetone wont penetrate it! once youve done that, soak a cotton ball in acetone, place it on your nail and wrap your finger in tin foil (i told you you'd look silly!), do this to all your fingers (at the same time if you wish!). its not necessarily faster than soaking them, but at least you dont have to just sit there and wait! good luck! :green:

I very rarely soak off but what I do is a bit odd but boy does it work.

I get a set of rubber gloves cut off the fingers then soak lint pads in warm acetone and wrap them round the fingers, wrap in foil then put the cut rubber glove fingers over the foil, this keeps the acetone all in the right place.
Then depending on how warm it is I would either just leave them as they are or put their hands in a plastic bag and put in a heated mitt this is great for a cold day and speeds things up big time.

I always have a laugh with my clients when I am doing this they think its the weirdest thing ever

I prefer the foil method of removing enhancements too (so do my clients).

Foil method works best for me too, if you put warm mitts on as well it speeds up the process..x

Foil for me too.

Hi, i find the 'get em off' remover from boots is excellent....i have used this on fibre glass and gel nails with great results it doesnt take long for them to come off at all. Its not too dear either...worth a try and cheap to buy. Hope this helps....Dollysplodge xx:)

I prefer to use a product remover rather than straight Acetone. There is nothing wrong with straight Acetone but it is not kind to the skin and very drying to the nails. Product removers are also formulated with acetone but it is buffered acetone which helps protect the skin and nails from excessive dehydration. It is a tad more expensive than acetone, but not much, but in my opinion worth it to the client who is paying for the removal service.

Mundo Product Remover can be used with the foil method or 'the old fashioned way!! Sweet Squared 08452106060 sell Mundo Product Remover for nails at a very reasonable cost to the professional.

I personally wouldn't even consider going to a high street shop like Boots to buy what should be a professional product to perform a professional service which should be carried out in the SALON or your place of work.

I use Mundo product remover with foil..xx

This does not work with a file off gel over natural nails right?

What's to take offence at?

That's your prerogative. :green:

Why would any professional buy non professional products, that your clients can purchase, to use professionally? I would never do it and neither would any other person with a professional head.

I buy professional products at wholesale prices not high street prices, like any other professional would. I would never give a nail professional any other advice and I have given it time and again and no one has ever taken offence. My comments are for general edification and were not directed at any individual.

Anyone can buy liquid and powder to do their own nails from Boots too plus tools and all sorts of nail paraphernalia!!! Does any professional do that when they can purchase at wholesale prices the professional quality products they need?

Well i consider myself a professional and so do all my clients i have each week. Not everyone works in a salon or owns one, so us little people have to sometimes and i was just giving my opinion as i have used this product as i bought for myself and found it very good to remove nails quickly thats all!! Not a question of not being professional and buying only branded stuff...which i have both branded from the wholesaler and from Boots!

I believe I said in my post ... the SALON or your place of work ... read it again. What's all this about a salon or being able to own one??? I started working from a home salon and I still do now. Just a little person like yourself. :green: or should I have used the rolling eyes icon?

I really don't understand why you'd want to buy products from Boots?!?

You are a professional and can and will get a lower price from buying wholesale from either your regular distributor or from your local Sally's/Capital.

I don't own or work in a salon, yet I buy ALL of my products from my supplier/s, it's cheaper and I know I have the benefit of their professional experience should I need it, can't say you'd get that from Boots.

I'm mobile and professional - it's not about owning a salon it's about offering a professional service to your clients, and for me part of my professional service if using professional products. For example, I wouldn't pay for a pedicure if the tech used products and polish from Boots......

Professionalism is not about where you work it's how you work. You sound very defensive considering no-one is attacking you........

Thanks very much for all your help and hints i think the best would be to soak the nails with a cotton wool and then put a rubber glove over and then put the hand in heated mitts.....i gathered all your information and made my own little technique hehe...x:)
