hi geeks! really hoping someone can help me with this query!

i am qulified in level 2 nvq in beauty and level 2 cert in holistics and now want to learn acrylics too.

i have been looking on sallys salon services website and there are 2 courses, an asp one and a mercia one. just wondering which is going to be better. when i have qualifed i am then going to do a conversion course with cnd so i suppose it doesnt really matter which course i do if im going to change my range afterwards anyways, i just want to make sure im doing the right course. i live in cumbria and have a baby so is not possible for me 2 travel to manchester or newcastle etc o do a 5 day course, hence why im doing a local course and then a conversion one.
ive put the link to the website below for you to look at. its the mercia 2 day beginner cours and the asp 2 day beginner course!

Firstly I think you would be better to source something with a leading manufacturer/distributor as the Sally's courses tend to leave a lot to be desired! Having said that I understand your predicament as I was in your shoes years ago.

I would not go near the Mercia course myself. Mainly because the product is not good quality and many girls have had problems with it on here, myself included. I used it as an emergency and took it straight back to get a refund! This just makes it harder to use and especially to learn with. A better product certainly makes life easier. I have not used the other so cannot comment on it.

Whatever you choose to do I wish you the best of luck anyway! :)

I would check with CND that they even accept the cert from these companies for you to do a conversion. your info will be so far behind the CND course that they may not allow you to do just a conversion and insist on you doing the Foundation Course in order to be able to purchase CND.

Wouldn't it be better to wait for baby to get a bit older and then do things right from the start and get good training? I know you may be keen to get started but you won't be getting started and you'll just have to do things twice.

i made the mistake of training with sallys in mercia and i wouldnt recommend them to anyone!!

Honestly save your money and go with someone credible! If i had known about this site before i trained id have saved myself ALOT of money!!!

Im now looking into a CND course once ive popped (baby due in may) and moved house (april!) then i will be booking myself on a foundation course with CND to learn how to do it all properly!

I booked the manicure course with sally's, and had a lucky escape. The course was sold to me for £99 i asked if that encluded the kit and was told it did. Got a phone call 3 week's before and was told i needed a kit @ £39.99 That makes the course the same (give or take a few £) then the CND manicure course. The people in the sallys shop knew nothing about the course or what i would learn and said i should waite till they got the prospectus (sp?) witch was due 2 days befor the course. Fortunatly the course was cancelled 3 days befor due to not enough people booking on the course so the trainer would not come out!
I have since booked with CND, they have been realy great, giving me all the information i have asked for (so far) and i am sure it will be worth the waite. I would tell anyone to stay clear of them for training!
Good luck to you finding the right training.

I agree with the ladys

An absolute waste of money..... trust most of us from past experiences. Go with a leading brand I wasted thousands. you will only disapoint yourself and clients.
I think sallys is ok for bits and bobs, in our sallys they have taken mercia off the shelves already!!! they only replaced star nails with mercia about 6 months ago... (well atleast in my town they did)
