Hi girls - im new to the site (my first post today) anyway im currently working towards starting a bridal / special occasion makeup business but think i need some advice. I got my VTCT qualification about 5yrs ago, didn't do a lot with it at the time so took a 1 day refresher course recently. I must admit in an ideal world i think i would feel happier with a bit more training before starting out but i can't find a decent course in or around where i live (merseyside). Most people are telling me im having a confidence crisis and i should just advertise and get out there and see what happens!! However, if anybody knows of a short course i could do up this way that would be good. Also I feel as if i should be offering something other than just makeup, i have been looking at maybe doing manicures, or spray tanning etc - if through your experience you could advise me on that or give your opinions i would really appreciate it. Im also trying to sort out insurance - ive contacted a couple of places, just wondered if anybody could give me some companies to try?. Sorry for all the questions - anything you can impart will be gratefully received!!

Hi hun, you would probably be fine hun, im not from your area so wouldn't know about courses there, could you have a practice on a few friends? pretend its a client do everything as if it where, see how you feel, it could help you pick up on a few things you may need to do differently on a paying client.
As for add on's I would say to compliment your make-up business, eyelash extensions, lash and brow tinting and Spraytanning, would be a good choice hun.
But as a beauty business in general I would add on Waxing as this is a great earner, you will always be busy, it isn't seasonal or for special occasions, hair grows whatever the climate weather or financial!
Good luck going mobile its great fun.xx:hug:

Hi Faye,

Many thanks for your reply and "confidence" boost!!. Your suggestions are really helpful as i was thinking the same things myself. I can see your point about waxing as its an all year round service isn't it - will have a look at that, see if i can find a local course. You obviously get a lot of enjoyment out of being a mobile therapist - im sure you must have a lot of satisfied and happy customers which is ultimately what we all strive for - hope i'll be feeling the same in a years time!. Thanks once again for taking the time to write, and i wish you lots of luck for continued business success xx

I would say get a group of friends round and have a play on them, you'll be amazed how quickly it all comes back to you!! A definite add on I would do is spray tanning! Good Luck!!

Hi there, whereabouts in Merseyside are you? I'm currently on a part time course with a great tutor and it's boosted my confidence tenfold! If you're anywhere near me let me know and I'll pass the details on to you!

Caz xxx
