Could someone please tell me the best way to apply acrylic, patting, teasing or like nail varnish. On my course i was taught to pat at this was uv acrylic, but i struggle with ordinary (non uv set )

each brand of product varies slightly in its application, but you would be best to stick with your training and keep practicing until you master your application.

may i ask what course you did and the brand of product you used ?

I trained at the Carlton Institute and used Nailite products:hug:

I was taught to pat.

If your ratio and bead pick up is correct you should have no problem with patting you product to which zone it is intended. There will be enough monomer in the brush to keep the bead workable untill its in such place as to pat it down at the sidewalls.

If you start to push and pull, scrape & wipe you risk getting product in your brush and cloudy monomer.

If you are still having problems maybe go back and see your educator or book a one to one to iron out those problems you are having.

Oh and most importantly, never panick! This is where i used to go wrong when learning. I thought as soon as i placed my bead i had to work for dear life  once i realised you have some playing time to pat into place i calmed down and never looked back. HTH

Thanks, i will give it a go:hug:

Why not treat yourself to a copy of 'nailclass' by me (gigi rouse) and learn the most efficient techniques for applying L&P and gels. It is solely about the techniques involved in the 'doing' of nails. If you do a search here on nailclass you can read how so many say it has helped them and is their bible on application techniques.

Available from mundo.

Or better still any product you choose to try etc offers a conversion course which you will find very helpful for the product. Different manufacturers instructions can differ for the best workability.

Nice lots of promoting going on Gigi;)

A conversion course tells you about the product and how it works best. Always good to take one.

However, My book is about technique and has nothing to do with specific products. The same efficient techniques work with any product --- any product. Manufacturers instructions have nothing to do with application techniques.

People tend to promote the things that they know work and that have helped them. Thank you to all who have worked with my book and for your kind comments about it.

Manufacturers instructions have nothing to do with application techniques.

Surely when the product is manufactured that is when the product has been tested to best know how to use it?

Have you seen the tutorials here they are great you may find something of interest there or on any other place on this site and that's the beauty of it because you can copy the step by step guids and not have to pay anything. Have fun searching:)

Testing a product and how to use it best ... have nothing to do with my book.

If you had read my book, you would understand what I am talking about!

The Application techniques in my book ... have nothing to do with how to use a specific product.

The book is about how to do NAILS.

How to build them how to structure them how to finish them how to use your file and your brush for maximum efficiency etc. ... none of these things are taught on a conversion class and none of these things are different no matter what product you use.

All the tutorials I have written and posted here on the site are of course available for free ... nailclass is a result of those tutorials which the GEEKS asked for me to publish so that they could work with it beside them.

We even had a contest for choosing the name which Lellipop won.

It was a real group effort. The geeks and I put heads together to produce a book that was user friendly in size ... best quality paper so that it would not get wrecked when working with it etc.

You were not part of the site then so would know nothing of this.
All the geeks had it for free and still asked for the book to be published because they prefered it.

Anyone can download away ...for free ... but the thousands of copies of the book that have been sold attest to the fact that as a work book it is more helpful to have it by your side ...

Another thing you may not know is that every book sold is a donation to the runnng of this website which you all seem to enjoy so much ... it helps keep it going just like being a premium geek helps keep it going. So there are givers and then there are the takers.

I personally have been happy to pay for my book - as have thousands of others. Every man to his own I suppose

I was talking about manufacturers in my last post, not your book!!

And.... you are right, how to use a file and a brush for maximum efficiency etc is not taught in a conversion class nor.... in most classes for new up and coming technicians. They should be, then the training for these aspects shouldnt come from a book but a trainer....
