Hi,

I have recently passed an acrylic nail course and would like to start up my own business from home and mobile. Is this enough to get going or do i need to do a gel nails and mani and pedi course too before getting my business started.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

If you want to use any other systems or treatments you need training in that system or treatment in order to be insured for it. If you just wanted to do say, coloured acrylic enhancements, you could get insurance and start with just acrylic.

There are techs who only specialise in one type of service and run successful businesses. There are many, many 'Gel Polish only' techs, it entirely depends on what you want to offer. Personally I wanted to be a 'full service' tech and never wanted to turn a client away because whatever I offered wasn't suitable for the client, therefore I trained in all systems (L&P, Gel, Silk/Fibreglass, Gel polish, Hybrid, manicure and pedicure) - that said I don't do pedicures anymore as I just didn't enjoy them. I do Shellac Toes as it's profit making and quick.
