I have an appt on Tuesday where the lady has gel nails on at the moment and I will be going to either infill or redo using acrylic.

As I do not use gel I am basically unaware of the different products, but I do know that some are soak off and some are buff off.

My question is, is it possible to apply acrylic over gel, or will it reject each other and peel away, as I know it can do this when gel is applied over some acrylics?

Thanks

Just bumping this one up.
Any help please.

Hi
When i was trained we were told that no you cannot put gel on acrylic or vice versa, i would buff off the gel and apply your acrylic,

If you're applying L+P over a buff off gel and the surface is prepped properly then you should have no problem.
It's the same vice versa when applying gel to L+P (ie a 180 grit surface to the gel).

It's not advised to apply L+P over a soak off gel due though... providing you know which brand of gel she has on her nails you'll be able to choose the correct route to take.
If you're in doubt I would do a full removal and apply a new full set

Ive applied L&P over gel no problem. Jst file as you would normally for a rebalance and do your prep and you should be fine. Also make sure its not a soak off gel as ValencianNails mentioned.

you can overlay with acrylic as long as its not a soak off gel bcos of its density.

gel can be appiled ontop of acrylic.

I have rebalanced gel with L&P a few times and had no problem. Just make sure the structure is ok first.
