Hi Guys,

I haven't done acrylics for over 15 years so I am a bit rusty on my knowledge. I am doing my own nails. I removed the set done in a salon 4 weeks ago and I am going to do a new set of tips and overlay. Please remind me, is it essential to remove all traces of the old acrylic or can a thin layer be left on and covered up with the new overlay?
I'm trying to avoid filing my nail as much as possible and soaking in acetone/scraping instead which takes forever. Sorry for a stupid question, I didn't think I'd be picking up a nail file again but... lockdown...

If you debulk with a file and only have a thin layer of acrylic left, soaking off what is remaining should not take that long.
You can apply over the top of the remaining acrylic but personally I would start fresh.
You might use a different brand/product than what they used.
