Hi im hoping some of you acrylic geeks could help me out with something. Im only trained in gel and only newly qualified about 2 months ago my mum had her nails done in her local salon she had acrylic nails IMO i thought they were a bad job when she showed me but thought hey im no expert well they soaked them off for her about a month ago as she only had them done for a wedding and 3 of her nails have the biggest dent in the nail plate ive ever seen its really bad. What i would like to know is why has this happened and what can i do to help her as this tech has ruined my mums nails they look just awfull now:mad::mad::mad:

The dent is where your mum's nails were over-filed by the tech that did them. The only thing to do is to use a good quality cuticle oil (like CND's Solar Oil) and wait for the damage to grow out. At least as a newly qualified you get to see what an over-filed nail plate looks like!!

Just what i was going to say until i see you posted !!!

Thanks for that i just cant believe the damage she has done!!! I did say to my mum there wasnt much i could do i thought i would juts have to grow out. This has been good in one way as like you have said i can see the damage over filling can cause.

You could do a gel overlay for her which would fill in the dent without giving her the extra length that she doesn't want. That way she can wear polish if she wants to with out drawing attention to the damage.
