Hi geeks, I have a client who has a surgery scar in the centre of the head, going from the front through to the mid back of the head; it's about 8mm wide and has no hair growing at all. I normally cut and style her hair with a side parting to cover the scar, but when the weather is windy and her hair blows about, the scar shows. She's asked me if there is anything she can use to cover the scar like a spray? I know there are fibre sprays sold for men that come in different colours, but does anyone know if they're any good or would be suitable for her?

She's getting married soon, so I think she's worried about her hair and she feels restricted with updo options, so I really would like to help her with this.

Please does anyone know if the fibre sprays are any good?

Thank you x

The fiber sprays I've used I wouldn't recommend for that. Maybe a matte eyeshadow. There are so many colors to choose from I don't think she'd have a hard time matching it up at all. And it would probably last longer with a quick mist of an aerosol hairspray over the top. Hth

Thank you for replying; do you mean shading the scar with eyeshadow? I've tried it with her before and it lasted ok; we also tried waterproof mascara in brown as she's quite dark with mahogany highlights. I was just thinking spraying the coloured fibre spray lightly may give a better result and be less noticeable! I've watched on YouTube how it's sprayed on loads and it looks painted on, so I wasn't going to use it like that, only light strokes.

I was also thinking maybe those temporary body tattoo paints/ pens?! I could do some tiny dots to fill the scar?!

X

You could refer your client to a micropigmentation specialist who performs scar and scalp camouflage.

Depending on your area I can recommend some excellent specialists in the UK

If it is a temporary fix you are looking for I have suffered alopecia on and off for years and in the past have used a specialist product called couvre, it is a tube of paste that disguises and is waterproof. Also Magic Stylo pens are very good, you can purchase them from www.dawncragg.net

I just honestly didn't like the fibers, I thought they look very artificial. If her wedding isn't for a while you could always have her come in and try out a few things. If she's having her makeup done by a MUA with airbrush equipment maybe they could get a hold of a silicon based color to use on her scar. Almost all pro ranges have some silicone or water based colors to use as eyeshadows or contour colors. The silicone based ones aren't going anywhere if she sweats or anything, so maybe pass that info on to her and see.

Thanks for your help; I'll make the suggestions to her x
