Hello,

I hope someone can help me...?

My natural nails are falling apart!

They peel from the tip and when they break down, sometimes leaving me with no tip, I can see that on the nail bed below, a groove where they will split again.

I thought that if I cut them down, use strengthener and kept them strong, that this would help, but as soon as they have "PEELED", I can see the start of where it will happen again further down on the nail bed. This seems to happen a lot more frequently on my thumb, index and middle finger, rather than all five.

Some of my clients nails peel, but not like this and it has got worse.

Please.. Any product recommendations / tips?

Solar oil to nourish and condition 3 times a day,
cut down on the strengthener as these dry out the nails making them brittle,
folic acid is great for cell renewal for hair skin and nails, hth

I would say have a look at your diet.I have seen this happen when people have been on low fat diets and made the mistake of leaving out all fats even the good fats.Like olive and oily fish etc.
Also sometimes this can be from something you had months ago ,an illness and when the nail comes to the free edge it is weak and peels.

Yes, loubyou, that's it! Folic acid! This is some thing pregnant women take and their nails are FAB during pregnancy. I always wondered why??

One thing that causes peeling is dehydration. Are you drinking enough water? Another thing that causes nails to peel is stress... you said your nails are disintegrating... I'm going to sound like your 'mother'... "drink more water and stress less". :green:

The first thing with peeling nails is to NEVER file the peeling nails as this only makes it worse! The friction heat generated further dries out the ends of the nails, making the peeling worse. It's better to cut the nails affected by peeling, although obviously not with scissors. I would use an oil every day, personally I recommend Phenomen Oil (containing Vit E, Jojoba, Sweet Almond & Rice oil to promote nail growth), but then I use Jessica so I would say that!

Jessica also make a fantastic product that has not yet failed me in sorting out my clients' peeling nails. It's a conditioning strengthener called Fusion & contains Vit A & D as well as Calcium, as well as rubberised resins that will fuse the delicate layers together to prevent the peeling. You need to re-apply it every 2 to 3 days, ensuring you seal the free edge, for about 6 to 8 weeks. If the nails are particularly weak or problematic then using Jessica's Critical Care will help, but it's a very powerful product & shouldn't be used on the nail if it's damaged, it's used in the same way as Fusion & contains KSW Complex keratin, soy wheat proteins & complex strengtheners - it's a miracle product for boosting the growth of weak nails!

Thanks for your tips (Excuse the pun)!!

What do you all use on your clients if they came in and were regukar, but had this problem?

I need to get hold of a product asap. I use LCN and I can't find anything specific to my problem.

Any help?

i have the same problem it's so annoying my nails look just terrible!!

I know. Some days they look really good. I'll polish and nail art them, but once I take the polish off, they go really down hill.

I hate is as I am trying to promote the shop, and unless I have varnish on at all times, they look like they need A LOT of work.
