Hi all,
I need some advice - hope you can help or at least tell me what you think.

I am a mature student who is currently at the end of my VRQ 2 in womens hairdressing. I have decided I would like to specialize in special occasion hair for proms/weddings etc, in addition to this service I would like to offer a make up service too. My dilemmma is:

Should I continue onto the VRQ3 in womens hairdressing and try to fit in the bridalhair/make up practise/courses during my free time?
or
Should I forget the VRQ 3 and focus on (and spend my funds on) the special occasion hair and make up courses out there?

We have not been given any 'formal' hair up training at college so I need to do a few courses and practise practise practise regardless of what path I choose! To complicate matters, the VRQ 3 tutors at my local college are not the best....

I am also wondering how these choices would affect insurance and registering with local councils (I think I have read this is necessary)? Also, just specialising in this area, is it profitable enough?

Sorry for so many questions but I need to get this right as funds are limited and my age means I haven't got time to waste :(

Hope this all makes sense. Thanks for any suggestions you can give me!

Hi

I think the main thing you need to remember is that Proms and weddings are seasonal so regardless if you do the VRQ 3 or not you may need to think of another service that isnt so seasonal to help you along the way in between these times

I hope that has helped alittle?!

Thanks for giving me some feedback... I think I will do my level 3 and see how it goes...

I would do level 3 as a fallback position. Also after experiencing your first bridezilla, you may change you mind about doing it for a living.
The real money is in technical hairdressing.
