Since the age of about 10, I have been getting my eyebrows waxed!
At the young age of about 9, I thought how you got your eyebrows thin and nice (like the girls on sweet valley high) lol:) was by cutting them with scissors!!
My mum had a shock when I came downstairs to show her what id been doing!! They were all sparse and had big chomps cut out of them and were terrible!
My mum ended up taking me to her Beautician and asking her if she could tidy them up as they were so bad! The beautician started tweezering a few and tried to neaten them up and they did look alot better. After a while of having them regurly done, she advised my mum that they would get a much better shape if they were waxed, so my mum said ok for her to wax them. (please dont think bad of my mum for letting me have them waxed at such a young age! They really were awful!)
I am now comming up 23, so its been quite a number of years that I have been waxing them for, and to be honest, they are so thin!I think I have OCD when it comes to my eyebrows and as soon as I feel one sprouting through the skin, Im straight away tweezering it out!
Im very fair and dont have much of an eyebrow but I have been trying to grow them back for a few wks, but........not much growth seems to be occuring!
Is this because I have been waxing them for so long? Will I ever be able to get rid of the over plucked look and have a thicker eyebrow??:eek:

Sounds like you have Trichotollomania which is compulsive hair pulling, tweezing etc. In it's mild form, it can be as harmless as your problem which is waiting to pounce on every hair as it breaks through the skin. LOL......a lot of us do it.

You won't know for sure if they'll grow back until you try. In the meantime, either get them tattooed on or powder them in everyday. ONLY remove the ones outside of the shape and see if the other grow. They will grow in all direction if at all, because no doubt you've distorted the follicle.

So give it a go and give us feedback. You could try applying castor oil as some people find that this encourage brow growth.

Anythings worth a try!!! Thank you for your advice!
Ive been trying to let them grow for about 2weeks so far, but I must admit, I do pull the odd ones out as I just cant help myself!
Id really like to get them tattooed on but cant afford it at mo! Maybe a Birthday present from my Bf!!:)

Hi chic, gosh kim i would not have said that she had a condition to ocd. There is a link here for people who suffer from this condition of literally pulling your hair out that may be able to provide u with support for this condition.

Personally, i have found over the years , my mums generation especially that they would pluck there eyebrows to a fine pencil line as this was the fashion at the time, and what happens over time is the hairs become sparser and tend to not grow back as the folicle inself has simply stopped producing the hairs. I would try and grow them back, but if all fails and it still is a concern for u, then kim is a specielist in eyebrows and also offers permanent make up, so i am sure she will be able to help hun
Take care love jennyx

I think I can safely say that I know what I'm talking about Jen........I've had it since I was a child.

I did say 'in it's mild form' and if your read the original post, the poster said that she has OCD as she waits for the grow through and pulls them straight out.

I do on a number of occasions, sit in front of the TV with a pair of tweezers, and without a mirror, plucking any stray hairs I can feel comming through.
I honestly cannot help it, they drive me MAD!!

LOL.........Thousands of people do just that so you're not alone. It's still Trich though, just in a mild form. xxx

LOl, i think we all must have it, i like u can not stand it when my eyebrows come through, do not like the feel or to see them. I have often sit there with tweezers like u plucking away, x

Yup I'm a fellow trichster I yank my eyelashes out day in day out and when i'm really stressed my brows get it too and now theres gaps in them!

Your not alone

As a woman of a 'certain age' lol..I was in the era of overplucking and even shaving eyebrows off and pencilling them in. I had very fair hair and jet black bushy eyebrows, not a good look, lol
When I eventually decided to grow them with the idea of having a nice waxed shape done...to late they didn't grow back properly, they were very sparse and even worse a lot of grey...ouch!!
I had the opportunity to get mine tattooed on and I love them first time in my life I have a lovely shape eyebrow and I only have to have the strays waxed now n then...oh yes and the grey ones plucked out of course...So if they don't grow back..start saving your pennies it is soooo worth it, its amazing the difference they make to your face ..x

I so agree with this .... the brows really shape your face and thankfully my depleted brows (of over tweezing for years) I now have a lovely natural looking shape and I love them.. I have been back and had them topped up this weekend so they are a little scabby and dark at the moment.... or I would show you them.... but they are stunning :) Thanks Kim x
