Hi, i'm really interested in doing a nail course and found a few listed in the local papers. I am working full time already so college would only be an option in the evenings, which id why i'm looking at these intensive 2 day courses as a starting point.
Does anyone have any experience of things like this - Nail training, beauty courses, nail course, nails
If so can anyone tell me if they are any good, or a bit of a waste of time and money? :!: Thanks

Ther is no way way you can learn all that in 2 days - believe me, have a look at training by Creative, Ezflow or NSI, they al provide foundation courses to get you started.

I did the Creative foundation in L&P which was a 5 day course (with lots of home work) spread over 6 weeks and I couldn't possibly have done it in any less. HTH

Thanks, i did think it looked a lot for 2 days but thought it might be a good intro before commiting myself to a longer term course. Seems like it may well be one of those rip offs that doesn't actually get you anywhere!!
I have had a look at some college websites in my area and found an evening course (Nail Techniques Advanced VTCT Certificate) spread over 22 weeks, it looks very good. Has anyone done this? I'm not familiar with the qualifications and levels!

hi there, I was just wondering whether you work in the beauty/nail industry, if not, have you done any nail courses before. If you haven't done a nail course before, I would advise you to do a foundation course of your choice. People learn at different speeds and some learn visually whilst others learn by reading and applying. There are different companies that teach in different ways, some do home learn whilst others teach in small groups and 1-1's. Good luck in making your choices and hope this is hepful. :)

I agree with what has already been said.... I did my college training 4 years ago ( pretty bad now i look back)... It was a waste of time and money... I would have been better to train with CND right from the start... look into CND or Ezflow and start from there..
Good luck

I agree , I done an intensive course, complete utter waste of money, they didnt train you in a certain product so I wasted more money of different gels and acrylic which I had no end of problems because I wasnt trained in these products.

Get yourself on a CND or Ezflow course, you cant go wrong then.

Ooooh thanks for that, i have no experience and have never worked in a salon so i don't know where to start at all. Is there a website for CND or Ezflow? I googled CND and it came up with campaign for nuclear disarmament and not a lot else
Oh, and i found Ezflow courses.. but only in London. Grrr

I have just finished my training with NSI in Manchester. It was really good - £500 but worth it! xxxx

Hi hun and welcome :)

If you go to Sweet Squared then that'll give you most of the info you need. Or you can give them a ring on 0845 210 6060, they're really 'Sweet' people :green:

HTH's

Hey hun,

To be honest you would be wasting your money with such an intensive course. Not only have you got next to no chance of learning the skills properly and safely, if you decide to take up a career in nails you may find that the certificate isnt recognised. This would mean that you couldnt do a conversion course with one of the recognised educators and would have to do the foundation course with them anyway, and if you decided to do the intensive course and not bother converting with a more recognised company your qualification may not be valid for insurance purposes.

I think the best thing you could do is save up and pay for the best training you can get. I'm not sure if they still do, but when I trained with Creative they did do a foundation course that ran in the evenings. Failing that I know lots of people, myself included, who just used annual leave from work to do the course.

Have a search on here, Geeg did a thread recently about getting the foundations right, not compromising on good training even if it means spending more. Honestly hun if you decide to do this as a career in the future you will be glad you invested in the beginning. Good luck and I hope you enjoy your training, whatever course you choose.
