Hi,

Can I call on all you guys wealth of knowledge once again...

I did a half leg wax today with Hive roller wax. The womans leg hairs were a little short (to that which I have been trained to work on) but they were dark and stubbly.

I explained this and offered to try out one or two strips to see how we went. The dark hard hairs came out like a dream; no problems at all and the leg looked clear.

But when I smoothed the lotion on, I could feel lots of tiny hairs still there. Upon examination, I could not really see them and neither could she; they were incredibly fine; but you could feel them; the client did not mind this but I DO!!

Obviously I did not want to re-wax the same area (being training not to) and to be honest, did not want to as the client did have some redness (within the normal range) but wasn't going to do again in case...

So, any advice? I wasn't happy with myself, although she was happy with the result; it was a no-pay practise session but I would not have felt happy about taking payment; what could I do differently next time?

Thanks.

Hairs grow at 3 different stages and depending on when you wax them then you can still be left with that stubbly feeling. I've done it with my own legs. Waxed them but you can still feel the new hairs ready to come out.
You just have to explain this to your clients.
When i have a new client i advise them to have their legs waxed on day 1, day 15 and day 30 and then once a month.
It's just the hair cycle i'm afraid and it can't be avoided.

Differently next time = wait until hairs are at correct length (grain of rice)

if this is one of the first times the lady has been waxed it is quite normal,
you need to wax every 4-6 weeks regularly for 4 or 5 times until you get all the hairs in the same growth pattern,
then you will start to get totally smooth results,
as our hair normally grows in three phases it is the new hair that has been left behind, hth

Whenever I wax a clinet who has been using other methods of hair removal, I take their hand and get them to feel the stubble. I then explain that the only way to get rid of that stubble is to only wax.

As has been said, it's mainly to do with different stages of hair growth.

I always add that of course, sometimes, we just need to run the razor over, so no pressure. It just eduactes thema and tells them politely that it isn't anything you've done wrong. xxx

I know some people would pluck them but I never pluck when waxing. I will explain to my client that these hairs are not long enough to wax and should be left to grow through for next time. Other wise these little hairs will probably not be through for next time to wax. If that makes sense.
If you want a better way to have more chance of getting these little ones out then try this....Put wax on the leg, cover with strip, gently tug the strip down and rip off.
xxx
