I had a new client today who had her eyebrows waxed and was extremely pleased. The client is in a wheelchair and is on loads of medication after a nasty fall - unfortunately she has no feeling in her legs at the moment but has asked if I would consider waxing her legs as she has tried numerous salons who have all turned her down. She is really getting desperate as she is very down and just wants to feel like a woman again.
I really would appreciate some advice and guidance as I'm a soft touch and would love to help her out. Thanks

How about a doctor's note and someone to lift her / help you lift her?

Not sure how easy it would be to wax her in the wheelchair.

I agree with the above probably get the ok first from her dr. As for the lifting side of things if she had some one to help lift her maybe an option or could you go to her home then she could be already for you.HTH's x

I would want to help this client too,
as has already been said, it is good practise to get a note from her GP first and would be useful to have someone to help lift her if need be,
make sure you make a note of her condition and lack of feeling in her legs on the client card and get her to sign it,
make sure you test the temp of the wax each time before you apply it to her legs then you know for sure it wont be too hot for her

Good thinking louise yes test the wax all the time xx good luck xx

My best friend is in a wheelchair and I wax her all the time.. no problems. Just make sure you know what medications she is on and proceed with caution. If your bed goes up and down she can hopefully get on/off it.

Thanks for all your advice - I will ask her for a Doctors letter.

She does have someone to help lift her but last I night having another sleepness night I was thinking how would I do the back of her legs - I usually ask the client to roll over on her stomach (am I just be picky) !!!

If you had someone there to help lift her on and off they couch, between you you could put her on her side to get all around the legs instead of turning her onto her stomach. Think about how you might wax a pregnant lady and treat in a similar way.

Just make sure that you always have another person to help with lifting though because even nurses are not insured to lift alone.

Get a letter from her doc and then let her sit in her chair whilst you wax her. I'd kneel on the floor and do it and lift her legs to do the backs. xxx

Thank you all so much for your advice - I will feel alot more confident when she calls. xx
