Hi, I wondered whether I could get some advice.

I want to learn how to apply acrylic overlays to nails but I don't want to go on a course to learn about everything else! Is there anywhere I can do such a course? And do you have any idea how much it would cost?

I have been to the Creative website, as these are the products I want to use (hope it's ok for me to mention a specific company), but they seem to concentrate on nvq courses which are more than I have the time to do. Also, as it's Easter, there isn't anyone I can talk to on their phoneline! So, I thought I'd ask you guys as you seem to be a font of knowledge!

Many thanks in advance.

What do you mean by not wanting to learn everything else?

You cannot go on a course to learn only how to put overlays on nails - or you shouldn't be able to!

You need to learn about the health and growth pattern of the nails and how to keep the nail healthy.

Is this what you meant or did you mean you wanted to learn about nails only as opposed to the entire beauty therapy side?

Yes, sorry, I don't think I explained very well.

I appreciate I will need to learn about all about nails and so on, but yes, you are correct in assuming that I do not wish to learn about the beauty therapy side of things - just the nail side.

How would I go about finding out more about this?

Thanks.

go to http://www.essentialnails.com/ here you learn everything you need to know about nails but you do it course at a time, you learn acrylic tips and overlay and the health and safety, you learn at home, it costs around £360, if thats no good then i would recommend doing a nvq course and learning more than what you want to learn because that might benifit you more when you look for work :) good luck and keep me posted
Happy easter

Hiya,
If you want to go the Creative route, You should start by doing the foundation course. If you ring designer nails in leeds they will help you with any questions you have.

You could also get the trade magazines - Professional Nails and Scratch - but sadly not Nails Mag anymore - sniff sniff.

They will give you a wealth of information on different nail companies who specialise in nail only training - contact as many as you can and get a feel for who would give you the best continued service.

hi

the foundation course last for 4 days but is soon to be changing i think. This course offer good value and the training is some of the best in the industry. I am no knocking home learn courses but i dont think you can beat hands on training, with someone looking over your shoulder and a hand to guide you. The classes at the acadamy are very small about 8 in a class so you are definately going to get lots of attention.

Good luck
