I am interested in doing an air brush course, I have been quoted £600 for a days training but that did include the brush, compressor, 10 paints and some stencils. Thought about buying a 2nd hand one and practising myself cant really afford the other option! Does anyone know of a course that teaches the basics for people who have never even held an airbrush before, including cleaning etc? and roughly how much does it cost, is £600 ish the going rate? Or do you think it is something that you could pick up with practise without going on a course?

Thanks
Sherrie

Hi Ya, i know a few places do airbrush courses cheaper than that Ellisons do an airbrush course and so do Salon Express, also with regards to buying an airbrush Sundrench have been well recommended and their kit costs £99 if you do a search you may come up with the Sundrench Info x x x

i think there s a company called nail creations based in ipswich they do classes in capital wholesalers everwhere have alook at capitals web site. they also sell iwatas compressors that do nails and tanning for something like £350 hth xx dont forget sundrench just does tanning also is a temp compressorxx

Thanks very much, I will have a look into your suggestions

there is always the essential nails home learn course

also try any private colleges around your area then you can see if you like it b4 buying it xx

If there's nobody near you who offers a 'try before you buy' kind of course. then as Linda suggested, there's always

www.essentialnails.com

You get everything you need to learn and you can actually pay for the course in 3 monthly payments - bit easier on the purse.

If you go this route, I would still recommend you do some training with a 'real' person at some point because there are things that aren't included in the video that you need to know, tips n tricks and stuff like that.

hi do you recomend the essential nail courses for learning how to do acrylic etc xx

Emma, I think the Essential Nail courses are good for people who can't actually get to a 'live' class. But you do have to be very disciplined with yourself or you might just leave it sitting there and not finish it.

IMHO you can't beat a 'proper' class' - you need someone there pointing out the things you are doing wrong, and to tell you why things aren't working out. You can't beat working on a live model either - the nail trainer is ok, but I just dont like the look of any completed nails on it.

Essential Nails do have a telephone helpline although I've never used it so can't comment on it - perhaps there is someone here who can.

Are you not doing the Star Nails Course?

Don't forget Chocolate......!!!

Havent been using this site very long - only discovered it a few days ago... does chocolate teach airbrushing?

chocolate teaches everything, she runs our local satalite training centre for unit 19 nvq. she specialises in nail art, she judges compititions n everything. Check out her website.

www.netnails.net

Try Melle at www.allthingsnails.co.uk Her training is great - suitable for total beginners and those with some experience. It costs £150 for the day and her prices on compressors and extras are really reasonable.
