Akin Konizi named British Hairdresser of the Year 2011

The hair industry’s biggest night saw Akin Konizi from HOB Salons crowned British Hairdresser of the Year 2011.

Last night’s event, which took place at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, recognised some of Britain’s finest hairdressing names across a wide range of categories. Hosted by Jonathan Ross, the British Hairdressing Awards - presented by Hairdressers Journal magazine and sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional - featured guest stars including Marcus from The X Factor who is a trained hairdresser.

Konizi’s win topped off a great night for HOB Salons who also took home Artistic Team and Colour Technician titles.

“British hairdressing is renowned throughout the world for its creativity and innovation, and with the British Hairdressing Awards we continue to recognise, reward and celebrate the best of British,” said Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of Hairdressers Journal International, Jayne Lewis-Orr. “The standard of entries in all categories this year was incredible and the judges had a really difficult job. Congratulations to all the finalists and winners, who truly are the best of British.”

• Schwarzkopf Professional British Colour Technician of the Year – Christel Lundqvist, HOB Salons, London
• London Hairdresser of the Year - Richard Mannah, Toni & Guy
• Southern Hairdresser of the Year - Bruno Marc Giamattei, Marc Antoni, Henley-on-Thames
• Eastern Hairdresser of the Year – Terri Kay, Mark Leeson Hair Body & Mind, Mansfield
• Midlands Hairdresser of the Year – Sean Tetlow, The Colour Room, Stockport
• North Eastern Hairdresser of the Year – Julian Holland, The Mark Hill Salon, Kirk Ella
