Hi - does anyone use Alessandro Gel and if so what do you think of it? How many infils can you perform before it has to be reomved and what is the condition of the natural nail after removal? Does it come in different colours like Bio Sculpture or do you paint over it with polish? Hope someone has some info!

Hi Cookie,

Just in case you dont get a speedy reply, you could try a search for Alessandro. Failing that, you can contact NailWorx by emailing them on [email protected] - Be sure to tell them the geek sent you ;)

BTW: I am deleting your other post as it seems to be a duplicate of this one in the wrong forum :D

Hope this helps.

The gel never ever needs removing as it is chemically stable and won't go crystalline or crack or lift if applied correctly.

Product is not mechanically bonded to the nail plate so natural nail is actually protected like a suit of armour.

Derived from dental gel so unlike L & P it's inherently safe.

They have a series of gels called flame gels for the purposes of providing nail art finished or a coloured finish.

This is so funny, I have a small wet patch in my lap from from weeing myself silly. Why cant you try to promote your product on real mertis instead of silly drivel? are you lacking real mertis? Your fear of l&p systems and removable gel systems leads you into making ridiculous claims.

Here is a post that you may want to read (again). http://www.thenailgeek.com/showpost.php?p=27997&postcount=33

Hi

I'm only trained to use alessandro gel with tips, and have never worked with any other systems / brands.

I get on well with it, for me I find it easy to apply and it is hard wearing. I usually infill every 2 weeks and change every 2.5 to 3 months, depending on the growth of the clients own nails.

It must be buffed off, this I usually do with a post removal manicure.

I don't tend to get asked for coloured gels, but i'm sure they do them, I usually apply polish or french finish, nail art is usually popular too!

Like I say, I have no experience of other systems but alessandro works for me

Not sure, but you could call them and ask if they could give you a demonstration? Don't know if they do it though?

I have heard a few bad reports involving the service given by allesandro, not the actual products but the admin/training team. This person kept trying to book on courses but the details never arrived in the post and she phoned a few times to chase them up. They were then meant to come to her home to give a product demonstration and they never arrived, after she had taken the morning off work.
Maybe they are so busy they dont need any new clients/techs using there products.
In the end she trained with Creative and has never had any problems.

Hopefully if you decide to go with allesandro you will be treated better

good luck

You only need to look at their representation on this board to get a glimpse of their customer service.

I get the impression they like to look good (glossy brochures etc...) but have difficulty fulfilling expectations. Sorry to be critical.

Hi there

Thanks for your advice on who to contact. Didn't get very far with requesting further info from Nailworx. Rang a couple of salons locally who told me gel could not be removed only buffed off. So really what is left has to be grown out.

Just come accross this site. It's really good!!

I am going to try and get some info on the new Brisa gel. Have used NSI Balance and Cosmic and Bio Scupture Gels and NSI acrylics. Like all of them, but I am always looking for new things to try. Couldn't make it to Olympia this time to see what was new, so it's good to be able to ask other techs on their thoughts about various products.

Thanks again for your advice

Sorry it's me again - can't seem to find the web site to give me info on the new Brisa gel. Can anyone help or give me a telephone number?

I had a call from Allesandro last summer asking if a rep could call and give me a demo - I agreed as I was looking for a new gel system - perfect timing. When she arrived she kept apologising as she was from the make up part of the company but was the nail rep for the area. She promptly started buffing my natural nail with a 100 grit file and then said (when I pulled my finger away) oh you have file damage on your nail!!! :(

I explained that I wasn't happy with my gel system so would like a demo to see how this behaved on me. She wanted to cut my long healthy nail to put a tip on it - I said it doesn't need one could I just have an overlay. So she then went into a long speel about the prescriptive range and demo'd that - she said I couldn't have the gel as I wasn't having a tip???!!!

So finally I got a nice gel nail of sorts - a bit flourescent and very thick - and she asked what I would like to order, so I told her I was interested but to call me in 2 weeks and I would see how it stayed on. Never heard anything again.

Got Brisa now

Hi Kim
Thanks for that. I'm only interested in companies with a great back up service and who don't mind answering questions - even daft ones!!!

I'm trying to get some information on Brisa. How do you like working with it so far? Have you done overlays as well as extensions?

Hi Cookie

Call Designer Nails on 0113 275 5719 they distribute CND Brisa.

I am getting on ok with it, it is definitely a different technique than L&P. I have used 3 different gel systems in the past and this one is by far the best (so far) I have it on myself and have a few clients already pleased with it. (See my pic on Debs thread called 'Fancy Brisa's'). Also, Geeg has done some great Q&A in the Premium Geek Tutorials, it will give you loads of info.

Early Last year I had in house training with Allessanro I bought the Kit which was £300.00 which included the training.
We arranged training on a Monday so I didnt take any bookings for that day ,I also had two other girls training. We waited and waited for the trainer who should have come to see us at 10am ,we waited another couple of hours she still didnt come,I rang Allessandro to find out what had happened they didnt know why she hadn't arrived she never came .So they arranged for another day a tuesday ,the trainer should have arrived at 10am but didnt arrive untill 1pm while she was with us her mobile phone kept ringing and she kept answering it she left at 3pm.I complained to allessandro who sent someone else for a few hours on another day .
3 of my clients had allergic reactions to the gel and so did I .I told Allessandro I am not happy with the product or the training and wanted to return the product. They would not accept the kit back and said that I would have to pay for the training if I did send it back.
I now have the kit which I would not ever use I don't have anything good to say about it at all .

Although I think the trainer behaved most unprofessionally, I have to say that the reaction you describe is MOST unusual!!

Allergic reactions to chemicals in products (and they are VERY rare) happen over months of overexosure to a/the chemicls, on the SKIN. Did you get the product all over the skin?

I'd like to know how these allergic reactions on all of you manifested themselves ... what did it look/feel like? I have never before heard of something like this happenning to so many in such a short time with any nail product.

It was burning blisters and itching--ive never come across this before ive used several different types of gel for over 6 years and never had the problem.

whelp, I think I best just lock this one as no one from Alessandro can even come onto the to the site to do any explaining and the thread has gone a bit sour.

If anyone has anything they would like to add aside from what has already been posted... feel free to PM me and I will look at unlocking it.

Just got this via email from Colin. Since he is banned from this site and can not post himself, he has asked me to post the following:

With regard to Ruby's posts:

Early Last year I had in house training with Alessandro I bought the Kit which was £300.00 which included the training.

At this price this can only have been a conversion kit, but without the lady's correct details I cannot be certain. If it was a conversion kit it would NOT include any training merely a FREE conversion for a fully qualified nail technician. Alessandro does not sell a full kit to anyone without proper FREE training!

We arranged training on a Monday so I didn't take any bookings for that day ,I also had two other girls training. We waited and waited for the trainer who should have come to see us at loam ,we waited another couple of hours she still didn't come,I rang Alessandro to find out what had happened they didn't know why she hadn't arrived she never came ..

I find this scenario whereby we didn't know where the trainer was slightly unbelievable and confirm that this was not training, merely a conversion for a Creative qualified tech. Which we take to be a "badge" of proper training.

So they arranged for another day a Tuesday ,the trainer should have arrived at 10am but didn't arrive until 1pm while she was with us her mobile phone kept ringing and she kept answering it she left at 3pm.

Again without all the details I cannot really say but it is not unknown for traffic problems to occur, one of our trainers was behind the fatal road accident on the M1 last week and was held up for 6 hours, it does happen. It is most unprofessional to keep answering the mobile phone unless there was serious family problems occurring. Some of our trainers work away from home for a couple for weeks. As a policy we will ALWAYS provide more FREE training at the next available training session and training is held free of charge at Head Office 52 weeks of the year.

I complained to alessandro who sent someone else for a few hours on another day .

We obviously reacted correctly and sent someone out at our expense, again
It does sound like the Customer Care policy was effected correctly here. This was only a Conversion, For a full nail bar the price would have been in excess of a £1000.00 and full training would then be given.

3 of my clients had allergic reactions to the gel and so did I ..

We are not aware of any genuine claims about the Alessandro Soft Gel causing allergic reactions. However we always investigate any comments such as this most strenuously. In this case we will pay for an independent Consultant Skin Specialist (not a chemist) to patch test the Alessandro Soft Gel on each of these ladies individually at a local hospital, as the reactions are apparently spontaneous, obviously we will know there and then. If the 4 ladies do react we will immediately issue an apology to this lady and her clients and uplift the products instantly and pay the travelling expenses of the clients.

I told Alessandro I am not happy with the product or the training and wanted to return the product. They would not accept the kit back and said that I would have to pay for the training if I did send it back.
I now have the kit which I would not ever use I don't have anything good to say about it at all .

After 22 years of trading with the Alessandro Soft Gel we know how the product works and its non-allergenic properties, but then people can develop reactions to chalk! So anything is possible. We are the only ISO9002, British Safety Council, FHT members of the nail industry that I know of, in pursuit of the aims of Health and Safety and Quality Assurance . We do know that when we sell the product to a potential client the product will do everything we say of it and we will always support the client with free training as long as they are users of the product. I am not aware of any other company that offers free training and support from fully employed trainers and customer care representatives. We do know that not everyone tells us their correct qualifications and their full training background and/or their genuine experience levels but we can only go on the information presented to us during the buying process.

We invest in the UK more money per customer to support and train those customers than any other company without re-imbursement. We have invested over a million pounds over the last three years and forgone making profits as can be seen from our accounts! Our quest is such that the Directors have not taken any profits from the company. However we are only human and mistakes can be made, the trick is obviously to spot the genuine mistakes and then evolve processes to prevent further errors. Our current annual growth rate is 40%, (something our customers generally reflect) and unfortunately this does mean that sometimes we cannot give the 110% support which we want to offer. We also rely upon taking on new trainers and Business Development Manager's from the rest of a very immature industry and then over time re-training them to European Standards. I have noted a number of comments from posters on this site that they have had a poor demonstration. For this I apologise, but whilst we have high standards and we constantly work to ensure these standards, sometimes in our eagerness to grow and to please, an employee does a demonstration totally in contravention to all that we and the company stands for. I have no doubt that these employee's were caught out and are no longer with the company. I would be grateful for full details (confidentially of course) of any of these instances.

If anyone would like to contact me directly to either ensure a new experience or for me to look into any problems they have please fell free to contact me on [email protected]

Thread unlocked. Keep it clean.

The only thing ill bother with is this statement:

I was shocked to hear that you have been trading with Soft Gel since 1982 as I thought you opened shop in 1997... but I may be confused.
Though people can devlop reactions to chalk, it is not a likely allergen (at least no where near as likely as gluteraldehyde and acrylates).
Be sure if you patch test, to localize it to the affected area.
Also, remember that the client can not exhibit symptoms of an allergic reaction if no allergens come into contact with the skin.

Toodles.
