Yes I agree it is optional, but if this is the area she wants to specialise in then it may be a good idea. Plus she may pick up some tips and tricks! Always learning and all that! :green:

Ohhh - if you want to do something really out of the ordinary, do a search on water marbelling!! You'll be at it for hours! :green::green:

There are definately things that I can still learn. Things like 3D nail art, and yes marbling, it looks so difficult, and I can understand for hours, lol

Girl, if I were you, I'd go to school NOW and pay later! Get a credit card with a 0% introductory interest rate or something! You're too good not to be doing it professionally! :)
lol this is what I did only it didn't stop there lol
Your work looks really good and if you can I'd get cracking ASAP it will pay off in the long run

Oh, forgot to say good luck (cos I just know you'll be booking something soon )

Is a nail art qualification essential? She has heaps of talent without it! Having a qualification in mani-pedi would be a good place to start, I just kinda think a nail art course would be like teaching her to suck eggs lol! I though that if you had a qualification in mani or nail enhancements, then a qualification in nail art itself was optional? :)

LoL! I agree.

As far as long-lasting polishes (on natural nails), the best brand I can recommend is SpaRitual. I've also had a lot of success with CHI's new polish line. They seem to be more flexible than OPI polish. I almost never have problems with chipping or peeling. Proper nail prep is important, and so is using an awesome topcoat. I use SecheVite and advise all of my clients to buy a bottle and use it every other day to keep their polish on. (I also tell them to do the other obvious stuff: wear gloves when doing the dishes, don't grout your own tile, don't scrub your floor with rocks, ect.) It does depend on the flexibility of the natural nail, but I find that I have virtually no problems keeping SpaRitual and CHI polish on the natural nail. Does anyone else have the same problems with OPI?

I actually have a wide range of colours for OPI and find them ok. I really like the prowide brushes.

Oooh! I LOVE the prowide brushes! I wish all polish companies made them!

Tell me about it. I have some OPI with the normal brushes and some with the prowide. I have searched and searched for somewhere that stocks just the brushes, to no luck.

The application of the varnish is fantastic.

About 10 years ago before I moved to Brisbane I came down on holidays. I was walking through one of the largest weekend markets here and there was a stall with a lady doing nailart. She charged depending on how many nails you had done. I think I had 2 - one on each hand and they were footprints across my nail which was about $5. It was just done on my natural nail. She had heaps of designs to choose from so you just pointed out the design you wanted and she painted it on and then did a clear top coat. There was a line up and she was very popular with girls in the 8-20 age bracket.

You could do something like that for the time being. Markets, Fetes, Special Events etc in your area. The majority of people realise that it won't last long - a week if you're lucky. You could even put up a sign saying something along those lines - that it's a novelty and will last for approx a week.

Or you could advertise on local community noticeboards etc that you do special event nail art in your area - weddings, formals, parties etc which again is going to be a novelty thing for that event.

Just some ideas as you are very talented and not everyone wants nail art on extensions - they just want it for a novelty - something different for a change.

Oh! I didn't even think of that! That's a really good idea too!

Soriminah that is a brill idea. Since last night I have found a one day manicure course in the same town as my mum, so she can have the kids.

I have a friend who works for the local market.

There are always school/town xmas fetes, I could ask to have a table there and give them some of my profits.

I already have business cards printed up.

Just need to get some kinda leaflet done from home.

Looks like it is gonna be all systems go. It is so exciting, because I always envy people who are doing jobs they love and are passionate about, I have always wanted a job like that and I am glad I have realised that it is Nails.

Thanks again everyone for you comments of encouragement. Means alot.
