Please help, I have just bought a summer house it's going to be my new beauty studio opening on a few weeks, I had decided on a name it was going to be -
make me fake - beauty studio
I loved this it made me smile, I saw it somewhere and loved it (sorry if it was yours but great name)!! I've had logos done (thanks Carl!) and started to make up vouchers etc.

However since people have found out im branching out so to speak I've had several bookings from "professionals" doctors etc, and I'm now beginning to think if they had seen a flyer saying make me fake would they have booked, I'm just word of mouth at the moment no advertising! I think I need to find a name that won't limit my clientele.

Any help would be appreciated, my daughter is called Layla Rose so I may incorporate this? Any suggestions please need to decide ASAP and have logos etc don again! :D

Mmmmm I get the same thing hun. Proper being a "chav" word for brilliant in Cardiff I thought I'd only appeal to a certain client although I wanted the opposite. But I treat teachers, doctors, nurses and university lecturers regardless of my name my reputation has done me more good than the name that made me giggle. No one cares what I'm called Hun so go with your gut and name your business what u want x plus no one forgets my business name xx

to be honest with you, I would not take the name seriously..it's fun, maybe but from the business point of view, that would definitely limit your clientele..perhaps, you could explore other ideas, I am not great but I've come up with few -
@beautystudio
inbelleveritas
belle veritas
bellus room
bellus studio
studio belle

I would presume a salon called Make me Fake would specialise in a certain niche, I would perhaps presume you did fake nails, fake tan, fake lashes - all pretty big. Niche isn't bad, but depends on who you actually want to target perhaps.....?

It also works both ways. Some women do not visit salons or have treatments because they fear they are pretentious and/or snobby! Which is true to some. So you may well appeal to the clients that have never had a wax before, who have never had lashes or who were scared of getting naked for a tan. I know I get these clients - and I've kept every single one of tem x

I know where your all coming from, my mum said change it!! There's a Bella salon near me so anything with that is out! Oh what to do??!!

I actually quite like the name, but as you said would it appeal to everyone??? Would someone wanting a massage want to come to you for example? What do treatments do you do most of? I came up with "blinkin Brown" for a lash and tan girl the other day but shes not going to use it, so why not "blinkin brown and beautiful"...

I offer nail extensions, shellac, minx, waxing, lots of other type of nail stuff, crystal, rockstar etc, tinting, tanning, soon lashes, I'm level 3 beauty trained, this includes facials, massage, and I've trained in hot stones thai massage but I'm not offering any of these as it's mostly nails & tans that people want. ???.

Well the name fits what you are doing perfectly then! Stick with it, its catchy and a bit cheeky, it will defo appeal to anyone wanting those services! If ever you decide to push the facials and massage you could put these under another banner of "make me beautiful"....xxxx

Thanks missty it is a bit cheeky that's why I like it! X

When you described it as a 'beauty studio', I thought this was perfect for a name. It's neutral and doesn't give off a vibe of being one way or the other.

But you need to name it according to who you are trying to attract.

I absolutely love the thought of, 'Layla Rose @ The Beauty Studio'.

Layla's Rose then you could have a modern theme (colour of your choice but with contemp art within the studio) x

I also like Layla's Rose.
It sounds unique and I reckon you could create a nice logo, based on roses/flowers.

It is a hard decision, I only decided on mine a couple of days ago after weeks off thinking.

Let us know what you decide on :)

What about studio __________? what though??!!

Choosing a name is the toughest thing. I came up with loads that I thought I really liked until I got mine. I even did a thread on here when I first joined myself.

There are so many Studio.....followed by a number, so I wouldn't choose a name like that. The name you had picked was quite unique and quirky and although not to my taste, it was something you really liked and was different.

But you also need to think how the name will sound when you answer the phone, so "Make me Fake Good Morning" does it sound right to you when you say it?

My initial thought when I hear that name is, it is more of a cosmetic surgery type name, but that's just me.

Incorporating your daughters name is a lovely idea. Or I went flower/garden themed for mine because it had several special meanings to me as well as working from my garden but along the way I was thinking of The Secret Beauty Garden for example.

It's a hard decision because it's a name you ideally need to stick with for as long as you have your business. I hope you find one you like and wish you lots of success with your business, I LOVE my summerhouse, hope you enjoy yours too
