I received an email from one of my regular clients, who is at her house in France. She has had a major reaction and asking for my advice. Any idea's what has happened. Luckily, nothing to do with me!

Here is her email.

'Even the English Channel does not prevent you from taking a rest from your clients.

I need to take your advice. I have got a full blown allergy which has caused my entire face (apart from my nose) to break out into an exceptionally dry, itchy skin, some swelling and all over my face redness which is also very hot. It seemed to be building since last Friday - three days after we had arrived here. Never ever had anything like it before. I have been to the chemist's here - they are excellent. Together we have concluded that it is an allergic reaction to something . It has not spread - but it covers my eyelids. we have not been exposed to the sun - I wear a big hat and light scarf. And it is not the result of food poisoning. The only change in medication that I have taken is several days of Clarityn - and have stopped this as it was the only "cause" we could find.

The pharmacy has given me a creme hydratante ( Avene product) which I apply liberally all day. So far, no change.

Any suggestions to help clear whatever it is?

If any Geeks have come across anything similar, I would appreciate your feedback.

She really should be seeking this kind of advice from a medical team, which she has started to do through seeing the Pharmacist. A hydrating moisturiser is not going to reduce the Histamine levels in her system, so it's no wonder there is no change. But if they are worried she may be reacting to an ingredient in the antihistamine, what can they do?

If you want to give her something, I would advise she return to the Pharmacist (or a different one for a second opinion) and leave it at that as it's not for us to advise anything else.

Hi
Thank you for the feedback and I gave her similar advice. she is flying back to the UK today and I have advised she goes to the GP asap and if necessary asks for a referral to a Dermatologist/Skin Specialist.
I had another Client, who spends part of the summer in Greece have a major allergic reaction a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, she had a further allergy to the medicine prescribed by the Greek hospital. This resulted in having to be treated for light therapy back in the UK. On reflection the 'Greek' Client thinks the reaction was initiated by an insect bite whilst gardening, but the 'French' Client has no idea.
Just wondered if another geek had come across anything like this too?
