Hi there,
great site:) I gained a manicure/pedicure qualification 4 years ago but have done nothing with so far as i had my son shortly after. I am now considering doing some more training so i have more to offer. I am looking at doing an OPI acrylic & wrap system later this year. My question is how much is the wrap system used, the trainer i talked to said she used it on 50% of her clients? Also for anyone who uses OPI, is it easy to get hold of - can i get it in say Sally's or is it all direct.
thanks

its probably best to NOT get products that you can get from sallys...imo...looks very unprofessional!

I trained with OPI doing NVQ nail extensions in L&P at my local college. Despite us being "allowed" to buy the OPI college kit from Lena White they were reluctant to let us buy anything to replace items wed run out of. In addition when we'd achieved our qual we still couldnt buy anything as we didnt have their certificate. Lena White is the only UK distributor and disappointed with the whole situation I changed to Creative who are fab!!!

Can't comment on OPI products as I have never used them:green:
But, I would get the good old yellow pages out and call most of your local salons and ask them what % of the nails they do are acrylic, gel and wrap, if you tell them its a research question from your collage course you normally get helpful answers.
I say this because different parts of the country have different needs and its no good training in a system that is hardly used in your neck of the woods.
Good luck hun:hug:

i did all my training with opi and have always found it really easy to get hold of products, both in training and after. good products and good prices. i did all my training in huddersfield with belinda who is fab, a really great teacher.

wow kelly, small world its Belinda in Huddersfield where i want to do mine!!
thanks. Did you do the wrap system?

yeah i did the wrap system too but i personally havent used it since! but only because i preferred l+p and gel. she's a great teacher and it was a great course so i would definately recommend it any day. say hi from me lol! x

yes lena white is the main distributor in the uk,and i wdnt let that put me off and change to a different brand ive had no problems at all gting stock from her usually with cpl days aswell so try her sallys do stock a few things bt nt alot hth x

It is totally professional to be expert at doing all types of nail enhancements, L&P, gels, and wraps.

From an industry perspective however, wraps are the least used and have the smallest market share of any system. Those who are expert and have made wraps their primary system do quite well with them, but most never make wraps their primary system.

So even if one person tells you they do 50% of their clients with wraps, I'm afraid that is misleading information. They are only one person against thousands who do not make wraps their primary system.

Sheffield is the one place in the whole of the UK whee wraps are really well known ... so if it works in your area then by all means go for it. But do be realistic too and realise that this 'pocket' area for wraps is just that. It is not general across the UK.
