Does it work....
Do you eat enough...
Do you get bored...
How long have you been doing it for ???...

Thankyou xxx

I have done slimming world, I do loose weight but I lose the motivation after a few weeks,
So I thought it may be time to try a different approach to weight loss...

I need to shift this tummy too, but omg I find excersize soooo boring...

Cough cough....
I feel like Mario when I say.... I am an ex-WW leader...and yes it does work....
you do get enough food....and obviously in my humble opinion it is the safest, easiest and most sensible healthy eating plan around....
but I am biased... xxxxx

Forgot to add I lost 3 stone in 4 months....and that was eating out 5 times a week!!!
Although I don't drink alcohol....and I think that is easier in some ways because it means more food!

Blimey that was quick Mario lol

Well I have a starter pack here that a friend gave me,
So do you think I will be ok just eating like spud, veg, pasta and eggy things untill I get my head around the plan ?

I am off shopping now but don't have long so will have to just grab a few bits...

I am a bit of a picker not a mealer ....is there anything you can suggest for pickers (please doooon't say bananna's and apples lol)
I do like fruit, I need to re-train myself to eat it though (how daft does that sound)

I read last night I will be allowed 18 points a day  18 bloomin points....

I did it and loved it. It was perfect for me. I was 5 ft 4 and 11+ stone. Lost 2 stone in about 6 months and even ate at mcdonalds about once or twice a week! I really like the points system, and I liked the idea of earning more points by exercising. I know some people can't be bothered with counting points but it really helped me to be aware of what I was eating. Sooo often I hear-how come I'm not losing weight? I eat so healthy. People seem to forget that healthy food has calories too.
Are you going to go to meetings or do it on line? I didn't do either, just had the books and calculator. In the first week I lost 3lbs and that was great motivation. I did have a friend who went to meetings though and if you have the time and money they are ment to be really good and helpful.
Good luck :D

its worked for me hun , granted i aint on it at the mo (need to get back on ) i have done it both times after having the kids and its helped loads :green:

If you are a picker then the best thing to do is split your meals up.
So the recommended meals are breakfast, lunch and evening meal with 2 snacks in between....that is the ideal scenario....

but for pickers I always recommended 5 meals....with the snacks in between....
That pretty much means you are eating all day as such but if you are a picker it helps....

Breakfast is ESSENTIAL.... so for example first thing have a banana....pretty much as soon as you wake up.... 1 and a half points...
Then after the kids are at school...or you have sorted out bits and bobs....take time out for a medium poached egg on toast ( no butter ) 3 points....
Then lunch....a points free salad of tomato, various lettuce leaves, cucumber, thinly sliced red onion etc...
a jacket potato 1 and a half points.... handful of wafer thin ham 1 and a half points....
A treat afterwards could be a 2 finger kitkat for 1 and a half points....( could be 2 points now ).....
Then mid afternoon a crumpet with jam 2 points....
Evening meal could be from a WW recipe book....say a chilli con carne for 4 points with tons of points free vegetable.....
Then that leaves you 3 points for your pint of skimmed milk and something for supper....
Don't forget your litre and a half minimum of water.....which can be diluted with sugar free squash if necessary....
Sugar free fizzy drinks too....although if you drink coca cola go for the caffeine free variety.....
Herbal teas are great and count towards your water allowance....but tea and coffee that are not caffeine free kind of counter balance your water intake so try not to count them....

There are so many 'free' point foods that you can bulk out any meals and there are no set rules for how often you eat....just do what you feel comfortable with and what fits into your lifestyle....

The two most important things I cannot stress enough is BREAKFAST( make it your first meal whatever time you choose to have it ) and the WATER....

And fruit contains natural sugar....but don't be fooled that you can eat it willy nilly....Melon, grapes and bananas are quite high in their natural sugars ( I mention them because they are my faves ) and it is easy to rake up the points with a banana the length of the M1 and a wedge of melon big enough to sink a ship.....

Fantastic info on here !!. I am a picker Jo but i dont eat pasta/rice or alot of veg !!!!....I would gladley have 5 meals a day though !!! What would be best for me to eat as i have stopped the **** and piled on the pounds !!

I am so glad this has come up!! I joined WW last week and got weighed yesday and lost 5 1/2 pounds! I am so pleased! And it is not hard to stick to either!! I am only allowed 19 points and sometimes find it hard to use all them up - its great!!

I even went out for a drink friday and saturday night and still lost. I saved lots of points to go out tho! Just to make sure I didnt go over!

LMAO :green:
on a serious note though, thankyou so much hun,
Lots of fabby info there,
Is artificial sweetener free ?
I bought a WW meal to have for my tea tonight, and then I can sit and plan whats next for this week tonight,
I think I may give it a go at home, see whats what, and read the books I have,
Then my friend does the weigh in's in a class, I might go along if I think I can hack it lol

I think Weight watcher is fantastic and have seen colleagues drop their pounds like nothing because you are not in this alone but have others to share and it helps to strengthen the willpower immensely as you want to get there like the others do!

You mentioned that you find exercising boring and I can see that, however you will have far quicker results if you do exercise as you not only burn more calories but also tighten the body!

Whilst muscles weigh more than fat you might initially gain a pound or two but you would be surprised how many inches you lose and isnt that what we are all after? - to fit in the jeans/dress that we have had in the cupboard for so long? The thing with exercising is also that you will notonly burn the calories while you exercise but even while you sleep!

I have got a crosstrainer and set up a little tv in front of it so i can watch something while i exercise....that way you get to see your favourite tv programme, you get some space to yourself (maybe away from the kids) and you would be surprised how quick the time goes without looking at the clock constantly and thinking ....OMG how long have i got to go?

Works for me and have friends that got hooked also :wink2:

I'm WW-ing again. I've tried other diets (calorie counting or whatever) and I always come back to WW. I love that you can have whatever you want to eat, just provided you point it up. I don't feel like I'm missing out like I have done on previous diets.

One thing I would say about the 'Core' plan - It's great but I'm not sure it's for me. I could eat my entire bodyweight in pasta, but technically pasta is one of the core foods that you can eat as much as you want to of until you are full. Unfortuantely my 'off' switch doesn't seem to work in this regard and I'm much better off weighing my pasta in case I over do it. :irked:

The only excersize I would LOVE is boxing...
I really want a punch bag..my little sis has one she NEVER uses, and she wont let me buy it off her lol...

Would boxing burn off calories ?
I have 1 stone to lose I weighed myself in boots today (maybe a pound or 2 after that lol...but small steps hey) :green:

Does anyone have any info they can pm me or email me about weight watchers like a few basic on what food = how many points?
I have started having the ww meals for my lunch but need to start cooking proper teas aswell.
Thanks xx

SJ if you said what you liked then it would be easier....
I am not sure if they still do the NO COUNT option....but that was great for fussier eaters....

The other thing is to look outside of your comfort zone..... butternut squash is fantastic....so much you can do with that...I know it is a veggie but it is so tasty and versatile....
Swede chips are my all time favourite for no points....
sweet potato....much better than regular potatoes because it has a low glycemic index....

Emms....sorry....PMSL....
Me and my bananas are legendary.....

My fave quick brekkie is Greek Yoghurt....( I leave it in the pot ) push as much special K as I can fit into the pot and honey drizzled on top...
It's quick, no washing up except for a spoon and is tasty.

Excercise is always recommended with WW but not essential....
However it is amazing where and when you can fit exercise into your daily routine.... A better weight loss will always result from exercise but don't beat yourself up about it. 3 times a week is all it takes.
And don't forget exercise can initially result in a gain because muscle weighs more than fat.....but it evens out soon enough....

There is so much to say....but I will send you all to  if I do....

Forgot to add.... go on the WW website and register....it gives you so many recipes and ideas for free.....

Banana's make me bork lol...my body just wont let me swallow them...:green:
I'm the same with yogurt..I just can't swallow it...

I do want to exercise as never in my life, not even as a child have I had a firm tum...I'm not asking washboard lol...it would just be nice to not look pregnant !

My little sis said she will think about selling me her punchbag yayyyyyy
(I am going to harrass her )

im trying weight watchers for the first time, having always been a slimming world gal! Iv lost 7 1/2 pound in 3 weeks, and am well pleased. I think the diet is great, and the best thing for me is that you can drink on it, (sad, but true this was a deciding factor for me, lol). Me and a bottle of weight watchers wine are great friends, lol

I lost about 1.5 stone on WW early this year, then I went to Florida and its gradually crept back up again, reckon I've put about 11 back on!!

I decided I must get back on it again, need to get in shape to run my new puppy round the show ring lol.. Kerry what one are you going to?

I am trying to do it alone this time..... last time I joined I lost 7lb the first week, then about 3 every week for the next 3 or 4 weeks, then it averaged out 2 a week after that! :green:

Emms....if bananas make you gag don't eat them....especially in a yoghurt
Seriously though I hate yoghurt....but I like greek yoghurt because it is more creamy...
A banana was more a suggestion because it is good brain food....

A full english breakfast is 4 points...
2 slices turkey rashers ( or 1 lean back bacon ) grilled
Grilled tomatoes
Grilled mushrooms
1 egg ( fried with cooking spray or poached )
1 slice wholemeal toast spread with low fat spread

for a lunch you could have for 2 points
Sticky marmalade turkey escalopes
100g or 3 and a half ounce turkey escalope spread with marmalade on both sides
In a frying pan...spray with oil and add finely chopped red onions and garlic ( add a touch of water if it sticks )..when softened add some finely sliced courgettes and add the juice of an orange and some zest if desired...cook until softened and golden...
Put into a serving bowl and keep warm...
add the turkey escalope and spray with oil...cook for 3-4 minutes each side....
Take out of the pan...squeeze the remaining orange juice into the pan and scrape up all the stuck on juices and add parsley....
pour over the escaplopes and serve with the courgettes....

You can always add a couple of spoonfuls of rice for an extra 2 points....

BEWARE of smoothies....good for you granted....but unless you make your own they can be very high in points....

also flavoured waters....again they are full of sugar unless you go for the sugar free variety....

ALCOHOL This is the biggest area for the 'hidden' points to creep in...
White spirits are the best to go for....gin and especially vodka.... and remember a tonic water is 1 point....unless you go for the slimline tonics...
And watch your wine intake....especially the size of your glass.

WeightWatchers Products and similar Do read the labels carefully on these products....although they are great for quickness and ease especially telling you how many points there are....but you can be very misled....

More often than not just your normal products contain the same or nearly the same amount of points....

For example...WW Heinz beans....Never bother with these....There is half a point difference in the can and they have artificial sweetener in them and just have more water added....Same with the rice pudding...

A can of WW soup might be say 1 point....but all they have done is added more water.... Half a can of ordinary Heinz soup is the same points approx....

The ready meals are convenient and quick....but often you can make the same meal for the same points but have a lot more of it!!!
If you go for the ready meals bulk them out by adding no point vegetables and salad....

A WW pizza was more points than the same Asda 'normal' variety....( not sure if they still do the WW pizza )

Weight Watchers wine is only half a point less than 'normal' wine...

Read carefully....always....you can be very misled with the words...Light..Low cal...etc...
Look for products that are less than 3% fat....

A quick guide for yoghurts etc is.... 0 - 50 cals = half point
51 - 100 cals = 1 point

Lecture over....time for a swim.... xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
