Hey it turns out they have no plans in the future to ban beauty therapists. the link above shows the evidence :)

I know this was an older post but...
That video isn’t evidence.
That’s just advertising puff, no different to me claiming that hair extensions will be made illegal in 2020. :p
The fact is, she’s selling training and so will try to convince punters that paying ££££ will be a good investment.
Genuine ‘evidence’ has to be quantifiable.
Where’s her personal letter in writing from the Minister for Health?

At the moment, the Tory government are keen on the industry self regulating (because that doesn’t cost the government money), but you can’t assume that will always be the case. A change of government (it always swings every few years) could decide to enact legislation at any time in the future, especially if it’s a vote winner.

In addition, many local authorities are bringing in bylaws to regulate the industry, so you need to be mindful of that possibility as it’s a potential revenue source.

Remember what happened with teeth whitening?
It’s now a Criminal Offence to offer teeth whitening services if you are not registered as a Practitioner with the GDC.

I never ended up logging back into this, but yes I trained, Qualified in Jan 2018! I think more and more people are jumping on the band wagon, thats why there are so many 'botched' treatments being exposed, its not us they need to ban, its the bad training thats out there. I see so many sponsored posts about training for as little as 1.5k which seems extremely little and cant help but assume this wouldn't be a acceptable level of training. The amount of practitioners medics and non medic doing filler treatments has raised dramatically within the last few years. Does anyone think this Parliament talk about regulations will ever change?
Hi Laura, I have studied Beauty Level 2 & 3 and Microblading and am looking at training in Fillers but am really concerned that I will train, spend thousands & the regulations may change - I'm also concerned about courses and which companies are reputable. Do you have any advice, who you trained with etc.
Thank you, Heidi

Hi!

To be honest if I was in your position, I would wait to see what regulations get changed. Where have you looked at and il give you my opinions? No doubt we'd have to do form of extra training to meet standards. I don't believe they could potentially stop peoples businesses by making it illegal for us - I don't think they realise the effort and not to mention the amount of money us non medics spend to get where we are to do this. I dont want to mention names as i know a few training places are rubbish, and this is why 'botched' treatments happen. Through lack of standard of training - through the years they've banned us from certain registers etc and I feel medics get thrills from seeing botched work and the possible complications that can happen. Instead of supporting us I feel like they wait for us to slip up putting peoples faces at risk. When really did anyone know theres also a 25% increase of nurses/drs botch jobs that doesnt get mentioned? Suppose its ok for them to mess up peoples faces, cause they're classed as medics.

I totally agree with

I totally agree with the above post . I have a few clients who go to a dentist and have had Botox and fillers . He dentist didn’t get them to fill in any forms , didn’t remove their make up and even said “ don’t worry drop the money into me tomorrow “ !
Also at the pro beauty I was talking to a couple of trainers on one stand who said they had to re train a doctor who had injected into a vein and his patient went blind ! She was 26 . Even medics do not let clients know the risks and contraindications that can occur with Botox and fillers but as the above said , because they are medics it seems we never hear about their “ ms

I could be waiting for something that never happens so i'm a bit stuck atm. The main one to me seems to be cosmetic couture, but i have heard a real mixture of reviews about them. The girl who does my lips trained with them and she is amazing at what she does, but then I think because they are one of the main trainers of beauty therapists they get bad press. I am also concerned about insurance etc, i know one company does not insure you if trained with cosmetic couture, which rings alarm bells to me. Another place is Visage, again I have heard bad things about the course.

I agree, they will not be able to take peoples careers away from them if you are already trained/have a business, but maybe they will say you need to take another course by a certain date etc. I have heard a mixture of things that may be put in place such as needing to train in level 4,5,6 and 7 not just from level 3 then filler, I have also heard from the lady who trained me in beauty therapy who spoke with habia, is that you have to have a prescriber or medical professional on site at all times. So this would mean employing someone which would be a huge expense and probably put a lot of small aestheticians out of business.

Really frustrating that it isn't made clear what is going on.

Do you mean flawless cosmetic or kiss aesthetics? Both are fabulous, my main post was based on flawless cosmetic who I still visit for my fillers now! My thoughts on cosmetic couture are they are very pushy and I felt very patronised during phone calls! Don’t get me wrong, I believe they were one of the first every companies to train aesthetics years ago and people who train with them (flawless, kiss, Sophia Bailey) produce some of the best filler treatments I’ve ever seen. Which makes me believe they are very good, but very very expensive. I have no doubt you’d walk away from them 100% confident and like you stated people go from level 3 - level 7 aesthetics. That’s what I did as I believe where I trained was other levels also. But now I assume people like myself would need to fill in those gaps (plus more money for training) to make the highest level count in the future. X

This is true. On my training days there was a nurse on the course and she didn’t pass and she was shocked as to why. She made no effort or didn’t seem interested. I think medics assume they already meet the standards needed and that’s what she thought. Medics like this find it as a easy side job to do and costs them dramatically less than non medics. For me, you need to have a passion for fillers and sometimes I can’t understand nurse practitioners offering fillers who don’t even have lip fillers themselves. I understand fillers aren’t for everyone but that’s what brought up my interest for wanting to get into the industry...

I’d also like to add I don’t think this about all nurse aesthetic practitioners, the majority are amazing that I can’t say a bad word about.

Hello
Could I ask where you did your training ?
I myself have been looking around and have spoken to cosmetic couture, I like the standard of work the people who have trained there are producing but need to be sure as £9000 isn't a walk in the park to spend on just anything I need to make sure it's the right investment, I do find them very straight to the point on the phone and selective with the info they give you.

I'm looking at training with cosmetic couture too, can i ask what you have been quoted £9k for because i've been quoted almost half that? I hope they haven't put their prices up! What are your thoughts on training in fillers now and the regulations changing? It's the only thing holding me back. The only thing that puts me off cosmetic couture is they seem very pushy for me to book, constantly calling me!

Revival academy is another option. they do loads of courses and are London based. there is a lady in charge (i forget her name) whose good to talk to on the phone about it so worth looking there too. Unsure if there are too many well known options other than those :)

Hello
sorry Ive only just seen this, I rang the academy and its been a while since iI rang but I think that price was for Acess course (nvq beauty 3), foundation fillers and advanced.

where did you do your training? and what was the total cost?

The issue is getting Botox prescribed. I use medtherapist for that, though if you are mainly doing fillers that probably doesn't help.
