OMG - That is some mark up!!!!!

I dont think using them for 4 treatments is right, if you do the treatment correctly most of the essential oil should have come out of the compress, you can give to your client to use on the neck area as a compress or to place on the stomach if they have cramps. Keep for 5 days completely wrapped and sealed.

As for putting in the bath after the 4 treatments, I truely have never heard anything more disgusting, the compress will have decayed, be full of sweat, dead skin and bacteria. They is also a health and safety issue advising this too. (you may as well shave your legs, and scrap the dead skin of the bottom of your feet and soak in that mixture of an hour, nice!)

EACH TREATMENT A NEW COMPRESS

I am unsure where you did you training but defiantly not in Thailand.

Where do you store you compresses, they will be breading bacteria in your salon, please take this advice and throw them away you do not want baceteria in your salon.

We do the ystara body massage massages in the spa were i work, me and a few therapists find the treatment awful hard work and alot of labour, massage for 1hr and 15mins, using heated poultice and body oil is hard work

Yes its hot work, but its easy work imo. It saves the therapist's hands and its a real pleasure to do!

Apart from the herbal poultice used in the treatment a quality herbal blend of essential oils is also applied full of true Thai based traditional
ingredients. Have you had one of our treatments?... we're worth it!

Maybe yours aren't the quality of the ones we use. Ours ARE meant to be used in a course of treatments.

I don't think you are very well informed or aware of the product to be able to be disgusted by your idea of what is taught by Natalie.

Maybe yours aren't the quality or don't contain the same properties of the ones we use.

Australia @ Beauty Warehouse Five Dock - Natalie Issacs herself, the owner of the company spent many years in Thailand @ conducts the training herself... saved me the trip.

We don't store them... clients purchase them take them home to be stored in a sealed plastic bag preferably in the fridge... they only ever go on 'their' body no one else's.

before this becomes a bit of a fight may I add:

I had a pair of compresses that I massaged my son with, I kept them for 2 weeks intending to use them again on him and they were covered with mould.

If you work on aromatherapy principles, the ingredients would not be potent after the first use.

I give my clients their compresses to take home as a bonus to their more expensive treatment.

No problems here, I've done the training, used the product for over 2 years & know its capabilities.

I've never had them go moldy but I've only used Natalie & dispose after 6 weeks....

Contact Natalie Group, I'm sure you'll get the answers you need to understand this & more of her treatments, oils & philosophies

Why would yo be putting thai oil on the body, the essential oil that comes out of the hot compress has enough oil, neutral massage oil is enough to use when you do manual work without the compress.

With the mark up I ment, your retail compresses.

As for me not being well informed, I did my training in thailand. I am qualified to teach this treatment. So personally I can comment and pass my views. Especially on health and safety and the correct way a treatment should be done.

The compresses I use are off very high quality they are from thailand and I also make my own. But again only use them once.

Think about the compresses logically, they are filled with dried herbs, ect. When they are steamed they become soft and damp (slightly wet with oil) anything that is left after 48 hours even in a sealed container will produces mould and decay nothing can stop this. After 5 days left they sinks vile. Remember they will have sweat, skin and oil on them, I would not even want to pick them up to do the treatment. Another factor is when you re-steam them surely you are contaminating the steamer as they are not sterile.

The compresses are best given to the client, put them in the micro for 15-30 sec as long as they are still damp. If they have a sore neck its good to keep placed there, the heat and the essential oils help. Period pain, it acts like a hot water bottle and the oil is good for cramps.

After the treatment most of the essential oils are squeezed out of the compress and if the treatment if done correctly the compress looks ready for the bin. I will forward you they fresh ingredients over the weekend so you can make some fresh ones.

thanks GB, I would really appreciate that and also any tips/rituals you would like to pass on as this fascinates me.

It is a Natalie Thai Ritual, herbal compress + Herbal relaxation massage oil.

This is the RRP for the product in Australia.

The Natalie Thai range we use is based on Natalie's many years in Thailand & the UK. Natalie created the brand around the same time as the Body Shop came on the market. Natalie is also well informed & has based her treatments etc accordingly. You both have alot of knowledge & experience of Thailand & its traditions.

The compresses I use are off very high quality they are from thailand and I also make my own. But again only use them once.
Natalie also makes her own combinations.

The herbal compress treatment is done first then the body massage. The compress isn't used to infuse/massage the oils it has prepared the area for massage by warming soothing & releasing the herbal properties of the compress. Maybe thats why yours don't last as long?

I THINK WE ARE GOING TO HAVE TO AGREE TO DISAGREE ON THIS MATTER, I DO NOT WANT TO GET INTO A FULL BLOWN ARGUMENT ON THIS FORUM AS THIS IS NOT MY STYLE.

I teach and practice this treatment the traditional thai way, One thing I am passionate about is my 2nd home and my family, I spend as much time as I can in Thailand, and miss it dreadfully when not there. Everything in my life revolves around my thai beliefs, so this treatment is important to me. Its not like teaching hot stone or facial this treatment has history and is passed down from teacher to student. The treatment should not be altered and this is one of the rules when you are qualified to teach.

No problem ...

You are to use a new compress for each client, after the treatment give it to the client to take home, they can reheat in the micro for 15 seconds as long as it is still moist. This can only be kept for 5 days. Do not leave them in the salon due to hygiene once they have been used and left they start to decay and breed bacteria, this is the last thing you want in a salon.

With this treatment there is a lot a spiritual rituals prior to doing the treatment. Its a fantastic treatment if done correct. I would not recommend anyone doing the ellisons course as they dont even hold the compresses correct or know why they are doing the treatment. The hebal compresses they sell also are 3/4 full of clay. The purpose of this treatment is to get the essential oils out of the compress and into the body. The ellisons compresses are not juicy due to the clay soaking the little oil there is. Making your own is also an option, we do this in Thailand but wrapping the compresses is tricky, it has to be done a certain way. I can send the receipe for all the herbs necessary if anyone would like a go. Also you can buy compresses(dry) from Thailand over the internet, a good cheaper option.
Do you have a link to buy the compresses from Thailand please ?

Sadly @GLAMOUR BEAUTY hasn't been on the forum since 2009 (this thread is also from 2009) so you're unlikely to get a reply from them.

Hopefully one of the massage geeks currently using the forum will be able to give some advice/leads
