ITEC is the International Therapy Examining Council . Been around since the 1940's and its qualifications are recognised in over 35 countries. It does qualifications in Beauty, Complementary Therapies, hairdressing, and sports. It has levels 1 through to 4 . To acquire the qualification you need to complete case studies, and undertake both practical and theory examinations. Its a Vocational recognised qualification. My first qualifications were ITEC Level 2 Beauty Specialist and Level 3 Holistic Massage Therapist.

You'll find all the information you need on the ITEC Website, which is extensive. Hth

thank you very much for the fab info :)

Hey sorry this is a little delayed, but had my ITEC manicure and pedicure exams today and found them on average relatively simple if you know your stuff. However, there were one or two questions put in to throw you. But I was having none of it! ITEC shall not fool me! Just revise everything they ask of you and you'll be fine x

Would you say that the itec qualification is harder then the nvq level 2? My local provider only offers itec but I'm scared of end of year exams. I prefer continuous assessment.

I did ITEC Massage and I was to put it politely bricking it... I never did well with exams, but the examiners are very nice in my experience :) I scraped a pass in the written (ok I did ok but not top of the class LOL) and I was 2 points off a distinction in my practical :) I ended up calling the examiner back twice as when she first asked me the muscles I blanked... she told me to call her back as many times as I needed to with a big smile... :) I got all of them in the end as she just calmed me down by being nice :) She was very happy that I clearly knew what I was doing and that it was just "exam nerves" :)

So don't eliminate ITEC just because it's an exam :) You can resit it if you need to :)

That's not very helpful lol. How are they scary? Did they have six heads and fangs? Of course not :D

If you have the correct training and do your homework no exam is scary. The examiners are there to ensure you are ready for industry. If you're not you can do it again.

The woman were staring at me and whenever I looked up she would scowl. She said before I started that she didn't 'think I would pass today'. Then her daughter were in a crash or somethin. a week later we had another lady and she were lovely and I did pass it. So ye, the first exam were scary :)
