Hi,

I was thinking of joining LinkedIn in to connect with training providers, product suppliers & the like.
I'm a nail technician, but not sure which category to put myself under?
If anyone's on there what did you class your industry as?
I was thinking health, wellness & fitness or retail but neither seem right?

Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Claire x

Edit: Luxury goods & jewellery? X

Im on it but found it useless cant remember what im classed as cant even remember my password lol

I'm on their but under my business name . I update it every so often but haven't found much use for it . My service or more holistic so a listed myself under health x

I think it's seen as a 'professional networking site'

In reality I think it's just where business people post their wonderful CV's and amazing job titles just to say 'woohoo...look at me! Haven't I done well '

I think it's a good place to network if you are job hunting but that's it.

To stay in-touch with suppliers I use facebook. I find the info much more relevant.

yes i am on there under my own name, its good for networking with other professionals in the industry but i don't go on there perhaps as much as i should x

I get a lot of people who want to connect then when I accept them they want to sell me arbonne or forever living. Yes that's right, I trained for years, built my business, carefully selected my products and I'm going to use multi level marketing products in my salon because someone on linked in told me I should!

I haven't had much use for it. Facebook and twitter are great but I feel linked in is perhaps more for the individual!

I'm on there but I don't use it much , i think Pintrest is a really good site for nail tech's .xx

Thank you all for your replies, I think I'll skip LinkedIn, Facebook is doing ok & I'll be putting more into that & promoting more closer to salon opening - it brought me 90% mobile clientele & met a few fellow 'beauty professional's' (as we aren't 'proper' according to LinkedIn lol) who have helped with training, suppliers, products, advice & class a few so well they're on my personal page too.
As for Twitter - I have zero clue how it works! Research time I reckon!
Pintrest the same, never heard of it until I joined SG! I'll see if I can suss that out too - thanks very much everyone :)
