Im in the UK and designing my own pricelist, stationary, website etc for my beauty salon. I would like a logo design and have googled it - their are so many companys! any suggestion or tips you professionals can offer? thank you

i have been told logosnap is good and its free, i have not used it as yet but my business mentor did her logo on there and its great x

I would highly recommend 'verveprint.co.uk'. Great designer and he only charges £20 for a logo!

Thanks very much for that :)

Places like Logosnap do indeed have a free logo maker- but the choice is very very limited and not very nice imho. As soon as you want something more bespoke...they'll charge you $199.

I'm sure it'd be fine for someone who wanted something incredibly quick, or totally free and is willing to put up with not looking very professional (oh- meow!)

There's not a lot for free on the web anymore (or in life!)- especially in this field, as it's a little more complicated than it first looks. You'd have to make sure the logo was either a vector image, or provided as a 300dpi and 72dpi version - and even then its very likely that someone out there is going to have exactly the same logo as you, which I think defeats the object somewhat :)

My advice would be to go and get some quotes from actual designers, have a look at some of their work, compare them and see which company will suit your style most (at a good price- bearing in mind the average price, these days, for a bespoke logo is over £100)

I used the verve also, excellent logo & service!xx

I used Verve (Extensionize) too and don't think you can go wrong. Carl is right that if you use a freebie site it is highly likely that numerous others will have the same logo as you, and what he charges is really nothing to start branding your business. Fab value for money too, he is very patient with countless tweaks :D X

I used Verve - Can't recommend enough!

What happens if a company come up with a logo and you don't like it? Do you still pay them? Do they change it for you till you like it? :Scared:

Verve will give you several options so you can choose one. Poor Carl re did mine about five times until it was exactly how I wanted it bless him. Can't recommend enough

A decent company will go through a full consultation with you to find out your likes/dislikes and then give you a few choices to choose from. They should than tweak your preferences until you're happy.

Some places will specify how many rounds of changes they'll do (for example they'd be willing to change it three times then its decision time). I don't personally- but I do ask people to be sensible and meet me half-way :)

This is so helpful! I'm looking at my logo at the moment and am having so much trouble! Carl would you ve able to pm me with your email or number, thank you! Great thread geeks x

thanks guys. My brother has photoshop software and so has offered to do it for me :)

Verve is a fantastic company, carl is a very talented person!!

Verve :)

<----- that's how happy I am with it... it's my pic on here!:green:

This is going to sound like a stupid question, but can I just get a logo for now, or do logo companies like to do it in conjunction with a website?

Also, would it create problems to add the logo to a website at a later date?

As you can probably guess, I don't yet have a website.

I'm on my ipad round the pool in Cyprus at the moment answering this, how sad am I? actually scratch that- it's the perfect place to be!

No, most designers won't insist you have a web design done at the same time. If they're pushy like that- bin them.

And it shouldnt be a problem at all to add a logo design to a website at a later date.

Back to the rain in the morning :Scared:

p.s. Thanks for the nice comments guys

p.p.s Be careful with some of the "free" logo maker sites out there. For example the one listed earlier will give you a template based logo, which wont be unique, thst you can use on the web. But if you want to use the logo in print (like on a business card) you have to pay £49 for a high resolution version.
